Fantasmic Package or no Package???

I just got my Cindy's breakfast reservation so now I am ready to nail down the rest of my PS's. We are going for 2 weeks in July of the 4th. Should I book the Fantasmic dinner package or not? My biggest fear is the weather. July can be notorious for pop-up thunderstorms. But on the flip side, I hate sitting for 1-1/2 hours prior to the start of Fantasmic just to make sure I have a seat!!

Any recommendations? You guys are always good at helping me out!!!

I'm doing it Saturday night. H&V. I'll let you know how it worked out. I'm really looking forward to not having to show up way, way early for the Fantasmic show. As you note, the downside is the risk of inclement weather cancelling the Fantasmic show, and then we have committed to staying in the park for that meal, but we'll take that chance. We have to eat anyway -

SO now that I've done it, I'd say H&V was great, but I'd not do the meal/show deal. Trying to keep our reservation time for dinner and for when to show up for the show left us without necessary flexibility to see attractions with either a lengthy wait or a lengthy showtime. To make matters worse, people were able to walk up and get seated in a relatively short time period. And Sunday night's rain delayed the show, and may have cancelled it for all I know. My kids weren't going to be satisfied to wait and see if the Fantasmic show was going to happen when they could go ride TofT and RocknRollercoaster again while everyone was waiting to find out.

Next time, I'll grab a turkey leg or a lesser meal and get more shows/attractions done. But the food at H&V was very satisfying.

My DW and I are doing the package in May for the 1st time (seen the show before, not as part of the package.)

My question is: How does the que work for the show?

Do you go to a special que?

How late can you show up and get a seat?

Any thing else I need to know?

Any info is appriciated.

The theater has numerous sections of seating. One section (farthest to the right, I believe) is set aside for patrons of the package. General seating within that reserved section is for purchasors of the package, first come first serve.

You are given a time to report to Oscar's. In my case Sunday night, I don't remember how early we could arrive, but no later than 8:00 for an 8:30 show.

I wouldn't do the package nor would I wait an hour in line/sit on hard metal seats waiting for Fantasmic. I went to MGM this past July w/my bf and our time was limited so we rode all the rides w/no wait while everyone else was in line for Fantastmic. We walked into the theatre about 15 minutes before it started, got some snack/drinks and stood in the front "standing room only" area.

I've sat towards the front before and being higher up gave a much better view of the show. When it ended, we were the first ones to leave the theater and didn't get stuck in a mob of people. This method might not work the best for people w/little kids, though- but it worked great for 2 adults. So, in conclusion, you don't HAVE to do the package or wait in line for hours to see Fantasmic. -Stephanie

Thanks everyone for the responses!! I think I am going to book the package with either H&V or Brown Derby. I will have to see what time is available. Setting up these PS's is soooo hard. You have to figure out where you are going to be when!!!

We did the package with Hollywood and Vine. I liked it because we got to our seats around 8p rather than 7-7:30. And we managed to get on ToT with only a 15 min wait before the show

I booked Brown Derby Fantasmic package 30 days out from the day we intend to go. At that time, May park hours were not even published, and the latest PS we could get was 4:00 pm. A few days ago I called and checked for available PS times for the package on the same date. I was able to change our PS to 6:00 pm. A much better time for my normally late eating crew!:slurp:

I did the fantasmic package during my honeymoon in february. We ate at the Brown Derby thinking back i would not do it again. the crowds were small enough not to justify having the fantasmic package..so when you book it keep that in mind.

OK...Here is the deal...I booked the H&V Fantasmic Pkg for dinner at 445p in July. I am going to wait until the July hours come out and if there are 2 Fantasmic shows, I may cancel...make a later PS and do the second show.

All this planning!!!
