Family of five room choices

Would it be less expensive to book 2 rooms or a family suite? We are 3 adults and 2 children. We have only ever stayed at All star movies 1 time and Pop Century 4 times. The children are 4 and 8.

If you might consider a Moderate resort, Port Orleans Riverside resort (Aligator Bayou section) and Caribbean Beach resort both have some rooms with a max occupancy of 5 guests. Those rooms have 2 queen beds plus a pull-down under the tv (size described as best for a child). A couple of things to think about - you would have an extra per-night fee for a 3rd adult in the same room at both of the Moderates, and you would have 2 bathrooms with 2 Value resort rooms, but those Moderate rooms are another option.

You also have 2 sinks in the moderate resorts!

I would definitely go with either a family suite or the 2 rooms over the 1-moderate room. We've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside with 3 adults and 2 kids and it was ok, but boy, was it crowded. Next time (if ever we decide to stay on-site again), we will definitely be getting a 2nd room.

I have done the party of 5 thing many times.

Your least expensive option is often a room at Port Orleans Riverside, however, depending on discounts, 2 rooms at a value resort can sometimes be less expensive so it is best to check both. The second bathroom can also be worth the extra cost if 2 rooms at a value comes close to a single room at Port Orleans Riverside.

The other three options can also come close to each other in terms of price depending in promotions. In order from least to most expensive would be the Family suites at All Star Music and Art of Animation, the Cabins at Ft Wilderness and most of the rooms at the deluxe resorts.

Lastly we would have DVC rooms. The direct through Disney cash price for these is very expensive, but you can often rent points and bring it down to the price of a suite or deluxe room.

Personally, I would go with the suites or cabins over the deluxe resorts as they include a mini kitchen in the suites along with a second bathroom and a full kitchen at the cabins.

We're somewhat in the same boat.. We have 2 adults, a 16 & 14 year old and a 2 year old, PLUS one on the way... We spend a lot of time at the resort bc we go back for afternoon naps/breaks every day... Therefor, location is key for us... We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk this past February and it was nice but will be too small for our family of 6 in the upcoming years... We will definitely need either 2 rooms or a 2 bedroom villa. I would say definitely my choice would be for 2 rooms at a moderate, but I have seen 1 bedroom suites at the All Stars, too... That could definitely be an option too.

I'd recommend a moderate room, if: (1) you'll mostly be using the room for sleeping; and (2) you don't mind sharing a tight space.

We're going in November with my MIL staying together in the same room with my family of 4. In our case, it should be just fine, since we won't be spending much time in the room, we've shared small spaces together before (e.g., an RV) for a few days with no problems, we have similar schedules and personal habits, the kids are still fairly small and the adults don't overpack (meaning we don't need as much space for "stuff"), and we're staying at CBR, so we'll have some extra floor space, a second sink, privacy doors over the vanity area, etc. If, however, we were to change any of those factors (e.g., if somebody was a slob or an overpacker, or if my MIL kept different hours from the rest of us, etc.), 2 connecting rooms would become the better option.
