Family of 5

Hello,

My wife and i are starting to plan a trip to disney in 2018. we have 3 kids. at the time of the trip, our kids will be 7,6 and 4. My question is, is there any way to get into a standard room at one of the value resorts? the cost between a suite and a standard room is pretty significant (around 2,000 more). i know its over 3 years out, but its never to soon to start pre planning :) any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Sorry to say no, you can't have 5 in a standard value resort room. But both POR and CBR can sleep 5 at the moderate level, which is cheaper than a suite at the values or even 2 value rooms.

The only values for five people are the Suites, but a single hotel room at Port Orleans Riverside and recently Caribbean Beach is also an option for five people as they have that fold out bed from the bench seating in addition to the two queen size beds. I hope this is helpful!! Marie

It is never too early to plan I planned for a solid year. Drove everyone around me crazy too! Here is a really good tip- spring for the water park passes - not a park hopper. You can go to water parks or hotel pools during the hot hot day and theme parks at night when its a little cooler. Plus the water parks open a little later and you can sleep later. You are going to need it!

We stayed at Disney for many years and had an amazing time but realistically with 3 children - the rooms are small. We have stayed off property in a villa for a while now and spend lots of time at Disney but get to go back and have plenty of space and the advantages of the kitchen. We stayed back on property for the marathon weekend and it was fun but difficult, 5 in one room. Also half the fun of Disney trips, is the planning!

We are a family of 5 and our first trip, my DDs were around the same age as yours. We stayed at the POR, when it had a trundle bed that pulled out from underneath the double.
Now my DDs are teenager's and other than one year at the Poly, we still enjoy the POR. It also has the best food court. Rooms are what they are, but you are only there to sleep. At least now it's 2 queens and a pull down, much better.

You could try two joining rooms at a value resort, but it may cost a little more than a moderate.

An off site vacation rental can be about the same price as a hotel and you get a lot more, like private pool etc. message me if you are interested in my website. I have two villas available for rent close to Disney.

Check how much it might cost to rent points for one of the DVC resorts. Most of the studios sleep 5 and you get a fridge and kitchenette which would be great for making a quick breakfast or snacks.

Having a family of five was one of our factors in deciding to buy into DVC. I also recommend looking into renting DVC points if you want to stay on property and save some money.

ive tried to read into the dvc but honestly i just dont understand how it works.
