It's starting to look like fall around here.

I'm here and doing homework if anyone is around.

Hi Nicole!

I am in and out. How are you Nicole? It is about 90 here today.

Susie. . .
I meant to tell you. I watched "House Hunters" on HGTV last night. It's a show in which people who are looking for a new home whittle their options down to 3 choices and then pick one. Last night, the choices were in San Antonio. I was surprised at how much home you can get for your money there! Two of the houses were in a development called Wild Horse and cost about $125,000 for 3-4 bedrooms and 2 baths. Not bad.
The other house was in, I think, Great Northwestern ? They chose that one because it was near family. It was a two story and cost them $131,000. It was huge! Very impressive market there!

My friend moved to Texas and bought a huge house for a low price (I forget how much).

It amazes me to see how much the prices differ in each state. You would never see those prices here. :dazzle:

I'm back! Leftovers night!

Wow Susan - I can't believe those prices. $45,000 here wouldn't buy anything. We have a tiny house on a 50 by 100 lot with no garage 3 BR (1 without heat) 1 bath, and it would sell right now for about $210,000. 3 months ago the house on our street (similar toours) were going for $250,000.

There is no way we could ever afford that. Bob makes decent money but not great and since I don't work (well I do but I mean full time) We couldn't do it. :zipit:

How can kids afford any of the prices. I know my DS down the street bought his house for 40,000 and we had to co-sign. He has a min. paying job and works 2 jobs. He doesn't have many bills but is running ragged to pay everything.:lookaroun

Hello all/

We paid $30,000. for ours and haven't done anything to it, now it was assessed for $93,000. in 5 years.

But currently this area has a housing shortage but they are building by leaps and bound, so prices should go back down soon.

When we bought our house 24 years ago, we had to scrape and save to come up with a $5000 down payment. Now the down payment for that same home would be about $30,000.

Our little condo is worth $150,000, and there are some here that are going for close to $300,000. The housing market is still very high here.

You bought at the right time, as did we. We paid $56,000 seven years ago and can easily get $150,000 for this place now.
Our property values are skyrocketing because we are riverfront property and Philadelphia is currently working (slowly) on building up its riverfront.

I know - it's hard for parents too knowing their kids can't afford to live here....

It is.
Lauren's off to a pretty good start, but it's going to be harder for Stacey. Teaching doesn't pay that well here and she's still paying her way through school. She's thinking about working at something else for awhile at least. Just to make some decent money.
