Trip Report Fairytales Do Come True...

Well friends, we've returned from a magical, rainy, pixie dust filled trip that will NEVER be topped in my book. :) I have so much to share with you that I simply couldn't wait any longer! The first post is a little word-heavy, but I promise the rest of the report will have LOTS of pictures!

Here's my PTR if you'd like to read it!

Here we go! :joyfull:

Tuesday, 6/6

We had a 4pm flight out of Pittsburgh so fortunately didn't have to rush around much the morning that we left. We did some last minute packing and cleaning before loading everything up and heading to drop Tink off at my parents' house. She spent the first 4 days there and the last 4 days with Dylan's mom (and her wiener dog boyfriend :angelic:).

It's never easy leaving this sweet little baby. :( She knew something was up! Fortunately she was a good girl all week and had lots of fun with her grandmas! ;)

Disney here we come!!!!! :joyfull:
IMG_0050.JPG

We were on the road a few minutes after 1pm and it didn't take long for me to take over Dylan's Pandora with the Disney station. :p We arrived at 3pm and parking was a nightmare! We were starting to really cut it close and I was stressing. We went to check our bags and were informed that our flight was delayed until 7:30pm due to weather. It was extremely frustrating to be delayed, but it was a blessing in disguise because we were so short on time. So much for having time to do something on arrival day. :(

We went to TGI Friday's for some snacks. Dylan had pretzels and I had French Onion Soup. I was dreaming about BOG soup. :hungry: It was fine, nothing spectacular! But it filled our tummies and held us over until we got to Orlando.
IMG_0052.JPG

After our long delay, we finally boarded our flight and took off right on time at 7:30pm.

fullsizeoutput_3640.jpeg

Let me just preface the next part of my report by saying we literally had the BEST flight crew ever! They were so much fun!

The flight attendants went through the typical safety speech but when they were done, one came back over the intercom and said, "I've been asked what to do if you have more than one child. Which one should you put the mask on first? You put it on the one who has the most earning potential OR the one who's going to change your diapers in the years to come. Because that's coming." :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

When we started our descent into Orlando, the same flight attendant came back on and sang our landing directions to the tune of "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain." Then, another flight attendant came on and sang a farewell song to the tune of "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah." I wish I would have recorded them so I could remember the words. They were HILARIOUS! I love Southwest. :)

We finally landed at 9:30pm and headed to ME. Dylan stopped for some McDonalds in the food court on the way, lol. My mom bought me a Belle MagicBand for Christmas and I had called the day before to get it activated because it wasn't letting me do it myself. Well, it still wasn't working when I scanned it at the ME counter. :cautious: Fortunately, I had thrown my band for this trip in my carry on so scanned it for the time being.

Being that we landed close to 10pm, I wasn't sure about whether or not ME would get our luggage for us. The CM at the counter said we were fine and they would get it. It made me a little nervous, but we took her word for it.
IMG_0054.JPG

We boarded a boring Mears bus at 10:10 and pulled out a few minutes later. The welcome video was broken so we watched Brave instead. :(
IMG_0055.JPG

We arrived home at 10:45pm! :joyfull: This is the best I could do, lol.
IMG_0056.JPG

We went to the front desk to get my MagicBand fixed which only took a few minutes. I also never received my "room ready" text so had to figure out where we were staying. We were in the Hoops Hotel section! I took these pictures later in the week since it was dark when we arrived. :)

I had requested a first floor room, thinking it would be nice to not have to walk up and down steps or ride the elevator. It ended up being pretty noisy with all the people walking by. We're both heavy sleepers and even more so because we were always exhausted at the end of the day, so it wasn't a huge deal. But I just thought it was worth mentioning for those of you who are light sleepers or have little ones!

We stopped in the food court for a snack and our mugs, as we were on the dining plan. We ate our snacks in our room and then hopped into bed!

I woke up at 3:30am and we still didn't have our luggage. There was a message on the phone that was left at 1am saying our luggage was there.. to call when we needed it and they would bring it to the room. I went back to sleep and called when we got up at 6:30am. I was on hold for 15 minutes and when they answered, was told luggage services didn't open until 7am. :cautious: Then why did you leave me a message saying to call when I wanted it delivered? Our luggage arrived a few minutes after 7am so it ended up being fine.

Next up, Magic Kingdom!!!! :joyfull:

Hey! Congrats and welcome to the Disney Engagement club!

Diggin' the report thus far! Sooo, we must have just missed each other at California Grill. My ADR was at 5:30 and we were there for a bit after we ate. I think I had the same reaction as Dylan when I had my first bite of the filet!

I believe you were going to AK the next day and I kept my eye's peeled but didn't see you!

I've read enough of @Doc Disney's reports to know what I was getting. :hungry: I had a Sea Salt Caramel sundae and Dylan had something with marshmallow in it that I'm not seeing on the menu now.

Seeing as how I usually dont get the ice cream I'm interested in this marshmallow thing...I will have to look out for it on the menu!
PS obsessed with your dress at the California Grill! So pretty!!!
Also it reminded me of the last time I was at the California Grill and I saw a couple get engaged there and I started crying for them and my Mom was embarrassed hahahah! I'm so jealous/but happy for you that you got engaged in Disney! So magical!!!

Hahahaha your mom being embarrassed is too funny.. I started crying during Happily Ever After and my mom and sister looked at me like I was absolutely nuts :hilarious:

Friday, 6/9 cont.

We had a perfect view of Happily Ever After and I was excited to watch it for a second time! :)

It was interesting to see the show from a different perspective. You don't realize just how far away some of the fireworks are being put off when you're standing on Main Street!

My thoughts on Happily Ever After the second time... I LOVED IT! I think that being so far away and not being distracted by the castle projections helped me to focus more on the fireworks and the music. I was able to follow the storyline a lot better. @samantha788 - you were SO right about this! :)

This show will forever be special to me. I saw it for the very first time just hours after getting engaged to my very own Prince Charming. He's the only person I've seen it with, making it that much more special. I kept myself under control, but there were definitely tears threatening to escape. ;)

My pictures are out of time order, but our meals arrived to the table shortly after we came back inside from watching the show. This was the most perfect meal I could have ever asked for in so many ways. I get so happy every time I look at this picture... a moment captured in time. :) This man is my fiancé... I still can't believe that this is real life. :inlove:

We walked back out onto the deck after finishing up for one last look before leaving the restaurant.

We boarded the monorail back to MK and caught a bus back to the resort. It took us a full hour to finally make it home, and I'm sure there was probably an easier way to do it, but I applaud the transportation team at MK for their efficiency in getting everybody in line for the All Star resorts loaded and on their way quickly. We caught a glimpse of the water pageant on our way. :)

Looking back after being home for a week now, this was my favorite day of the trip. We both got to do what we love with the person we love along for the ride. Our meal was perfect, the weather was perfect, the entire evening was perfect. More than I ever could have imagined. :inlove:

Ugh I would be so annoyed about that wine situation! For such a nice and expensive restaurant, if you said you didn't like the wine, the waiter should have brought you out another instead of basically saying "NO. You WILL drink this wine, and you WILL LIKE IT" Fail on George's part lol

@blgauger , as the poster above mentioned, I'd also be annoyed about the wine. Wait staff for that premium restaurant should be able to handle a situation like that much better. I'm surprised at that (one) aspect of your meal that went flat. (The rest of the overall dining experience looked amazing.)

My knowledge of wine is minimal, as I don't drink it often. I tend to like something slightly more on the sweet side, so I've had good luck with either a Riesling, or a white Zinfandel. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

You are making me truly regret canceling this reservation last trip!! It really will have to be a must when we dont have the kiddos with us!

I love the picture of you and Dylan at the table!!

Yes!!! Definitely add it to the must do list. I can't recommend it enough! :D:hungry: Thank you! It's one of my favorite pictures from the trip as well. :)

Congratulations!! Only halfway thru your TR, but it looks like you had a fantastic engagement trip

Thank you! It was the best trip ever! :)

That's kind of what I thought too... Lol. But it was a minor fail in the grand scheme of things. :)

Congratulations!! I love to see people getting engaged there. It literally makes me cry if I see it in person. The pictures are wonderful and enjoying the report!

Thank you! :) I saw another couple get engaged during Wishes last year and I never imagined it would be me just a year later. :inlove:

Love this report! Your whole evening was special. I don't know why, but the picture of the 2 of you out on the balcony was absolutely wonderful. You made me want to try the California Grill next year, on our 50th wedding anniversary:)

Thank you! The picture on the balcony makes me smile... we were so happy and content in that moment. :) 50th anniversary at Cali Grill would be the BEST celebration ever! I think all of my celebrations are going to take place there from now on.

Bummer!!! Though you may have lost a hand if you tried to steal food off of my plate during this meal. :p

We did spend the following day at AK... bummer AGAIN! :(

Well his marshmallow concoction was ice cream... It was just smothered in marshmallow sauce of some sort. :) He said it was awesome though!

Thank you! :) I wore that dress to graduation in May so was happy to have an excuse to wear it again. :D

I always felt the same way about people getting engaged at Disney... You're sooooo happy for them but at the same time it's like :cautious: that's MY fantasy! Lol

Hahahaha your mom being embarrassed is too funny.. I started crying during Happily Ever After and my mom and sister looked at me like I was absolutely nuts :hilarious:

I told Dylan that I cry about everything at Disney because it's just SO magical and he didn't understand. :p

Good looking couple!

Awww thank you! :joyfull:

Cali Grill is INSANE GOOD!!! So glad you had a wonderful meal.

It's AMAZING!!! A gem that I'm sorry I've been missing all these years. :)

Our one and only dinner at California Grill is one of my favorite Disney memories of all of the trips we've taken. Absolutely phenomenal!

It has to be one of the top 5 BEST restaurants in Disney!

The Max family has never tried CG but since sooo many people are gushing over it.... I guess we will give it a shot next time

Note Gushing People include @Tuvalu @Doc Disney @prfctlyximprct @SweetEvangeline @mousefreak @Billy6 @blgauger @LisaBelle and too many others to tag!!!!

Max

Get it on the itinerary IMMEDIATELY! :hungry:

Just caught up! What an amazing first couple of days. I'm ready to read some more.

Thank you! :) We had an amazing start to our week!

CG was the first restaurant I ever ate in at Disney. It set the bar pretty high as the food is so amazing plus you can't beat the view ;)

Oh my goodness... I would never be able to make an ADR for anywhere else if that was my first Disney food experience! Lol

You guys don't even need to do an engagement photo shoot because you have so many wonderful ones from this trip!

I'm assuming you'll be getting married in the castle with Cali Grill catering and I'm invited, right?!?

I know!!! :joyfull: It was nice to get a few "engagement shots" while we were there... Super glad I had Memory Maker again this trip. ;)

I heard that Goofy was looking for a +1 to our Cali Grill catered castle wedding... That would DEFINITELY get you on the guest list! :p

Your two cents is appreciated. :) But I totally agree about the way he handled the situation. Like I said, it was definitely minor but again... we were eating in a signature restaurant. My best friend got married yesterday and we had some AMAZING champagne in the limo. I took a picture of the bottle so I don't forget what it was called. :hilarious:

We have asked to taste a few before selecting one, but we usually get a bottle so maybe that makes a difference.

Hmmm maybe? I would never expect to taste a bunch of different ones, but I thought that maybe he would at least get one more and let me decide between the two. It's all water under the bridge. :)

Saturday, 6/10

Dylan golfed again this morning but I chose to get a few extra hours of sleep instead of tagging along. ;) His tee time was at 8:03am so he left the room pretty early to give himself time to hit on the range again. I, on the other hand, slept in until 10:30am before getting up and around so we could leave when he returned. He got back to the room at 12:30pm and got cleaned up before we headed to the buses. Our bus came pretty quickly and before long we were off to Animal Kingdom! The last time I visited AK was 2014 so I was excited to finally get back, not to mention see all of the new things that have been added! :D
IMG_0318.JPG

Once inside, we went straight to Flame Tree BBQ for lunch. :hungry:
IMG_0320.JPG

We both ordered #1, which really was too much food for either of us (and I knew that), but I wanted to try each of the things on that platter and it just makes sense to get the most expensive thing on the menu when on the dining plan.
IMG_0322.JPG

It started raining while we were in line to order, so we found a table with some cover to protect us from getting wet. We had a lunch guest. :)
IMG_0323.JPG

We named him Ron. :p
IMG_0327.JPG

:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: There was a CM cleaning near our table and she said he's ALWAYS there and is not the least bit afraid of taking food off of people's plates. She kept chasing him away (he always came right back, lol) and said she wasn't a fan of him. :p
IMG_0328.JPG

Our lunch was pretty good.. Not as good as I remember, but still an excellent option for a QS meal! Dylan actually ate most of his plate and a little bit from mine... I barely made a dent in it.
IMG_0330.JPG

We finished eating and then walked into the theatre for It's Tough to Be a Bug! This show gets a lot of negative feedback, but I think it's fun. :) Dylan actually really enjoyed it, too! I got a good laugh out of his surprise when he got poked in the back by the bees. :hilarious:

When we exited the theatre, the skies had opened up. :arghh: We stood in the cover of the exit area for a few minutes to see if it was going to let up (it did not). We finally put on the rain gear and went on our way. There were spots where the water was up to my ankles. :jawdrop: Definitely not ideal, but it was actually kind of amusing once we got over our annoyance that it was raining AGAIN.

I proposed to my wife at EPCOT in front of the Italy pavilion on the bridge that looks like you're in Venice...I have my membership card ;)

We barely got to cover when that monsoon came through. We got off of Expedition Everest and made a B-line to one of the shops...Funny story, my parents were on K-Safari when the rain came. They weren't as dry as we were....

We saw a steady line of people leaving so we hung out and waited until the rain stopped...
