My family is headed down on Thursday -we're trying the Autotrain. Just had a question about tolls when we get there - specifically, is our NY/NJ EZ Pass any good down there. from what I remember they use a "Sunshine Pass" or something like that. Is it all the same?

Your EZPass will be useless. However, if you are just going from Sanford to Disney and back, there aren't any tolls. You just get on I-4 right outside the station and you go straight to an exit for the resort. I have done this many times.

Since others have already answered your toll question, I won't repeat that. I will say that my family just took the AutoTrain for the first time and we absolutely loved it. Enjoy!

We live here in VA and the EZ Pass question has been answered. I want to suggest to give your self enough time to arrive at the Auto Train in Lorton, VA. 95S gets reall conjested right past Springfield VA and they are real on about the time of arrival.

We have done the Auto train before and we will actually be using it again in Nov.

we took the auto train an my kids loved it. I recommed you take snacks and lots of things to keep busy as it gets dark there is nothing to look at outside and sometimes the movies arent for little ones If you have any. My son really liked our car being placed on the carrier and as he said it disapeared. the train station in va has a play area outside and if you have kids that is very good, wears them out its shapped as a train. If you can eat outside train station sice it is expensive. the meals ont he train where good. i mean better then my cooking so thats a plus. they offer two dinner times and they will ask you at check in what time i recommed the 5 if you have kids and think they wont make it to 7. I learned that the hard way. I hope this helps your train ride be more enjoyable. Have a great trip!

We have an EZPass and it does not work in Florida. They have what is called a Sunshine pass. Found out the hard way that its not the same.

Its actually SunPass, then there is also EPass. Both passes will work on all Florida toll roads. Unless you are taking the 417, 408, 429, 528, or part of the 414 in the Orlando area, you won't need it.

Thanks for the correction. We usually go into Orlando because we have friends there. Our gps always takes us through toll roads. It doesn't except our ezpass, so we just pay the toll. Again thanks for the correction and information.:)

One other difference is that you actually own the pass, you have to pay $25 for the pass or $4.99 if you get the SunPass Mini. The discounts on Orange Orlando Expressway toll roads are meager, you have to use it 40 times just to get a 5% discount, 80 times for a 10% discount, and not all toll plazas are included. On the Turnpike, SunPass will give you a 25% discount at most toll plazas. It would be nice if Florida would join the EZPass network, but I doubt that will ever happen. I had an EZPass that I had to cancel when I moved here.
