the character Bill McKim in Test Track's preshow is named for this

Ok Next one:

Sam designed a test track in 1960, Sam was part of Disney
when Disney built Test Track, they gave Sam some recognition by naming the preshow character with the same last name

Well, then Bageera had the correct answer last month. He mentioned Sam McKim and you didn't acknowledge his answer.

Bagheera did mention Sam's name so I will share credit with him. :)

Anyway...the ToT.

I read on one site the ToT produces 110,000 ft/lbs of torque. The camaro race cars produces approx 75 ft/lbs and the GT-One is 67. Other race cars are lower. So - depends on the car chosen.

If I went with the Camaro then it would be 110,000/75 or approx. 1466 race cars. If you took one of the lower torque racers you would get 40 ft/lbs or about 2750 to equal the ToT.

How close is this to the number you are looking for?

RU42 where did you get those torque figures from for the cars? I'm just curious because them seem really low.

A 2002 (last model year) base V6 street Camaro has a torque of 225lb-ft. @ 4000RPM. The Z28 has 340lb-ft. @ 4000RPM. The SS has 345lb-ft. @ 4400RPM.

Even a Toyota Echo produces 105lb-ft.

If we're talking race cars, a Winston Cup car (Chevy Monte Carlo) produces 520 ft. lbs. @ 6200 RPM.

He mentioned him, but didn't say anything to why the ride character would be named that

I'm looking for a number lower than 500
I don't know if you ToT torque stat is correct (I'm lookin for torque of one elevator motor)
I strongly trust the source that I have the answer from

Those numbers seemed low to me too, but it came off a car racing site. (I am not a mechanic so I just went with what I read.)

The info on ToT is:
http://www.tower-of-terror.com/designnews.html

so - if we took Chernabog's numbers, which I am sure are better then mine, and used 300as a nice round number, then we get:

110,000/300 or 366 sports cars.

I know that there was a full-fledged thunderstorm planned for the oil rig scene. Not sure what was planned for the trolls....
