What are they doin to this ride. I've heard they are turning it into a ride with "Stich" from Lilo and Stich. If you ask me this is a mistake. Sure more little kids will go on it probably but more of the teenager/adults will not. If you have news or opinions please respond.:(

mistake

i think it is a mistake and takes away one of the adult type attractions. Now if they were to make a stich ride and out it in one of the "kiddy" sections that would be fine but they are doing this by getting rid of a "classic"

I'm one of the few who prefers the idea of a potentially well themed ride, ever if it is more for kids... than AE, which I always thoughts was extremely boring and sub-par.

I for one am also very upset they did away with it  .

I always enjoyed going on that, even though you know what's gonna happen.

Geez - What a waste of money. That was a VERY expensive attraction. How long was it there - 5, maybe 6 years?

For me, the issue isn't the alien character vs. the Stitch character. It's the fact that they "toned it down" to accomodate small childern. I liked the darkness and the loud special effects. I wish they'd leave it dark and scary, then introduce stitch.

Also sux cause I used this attraction to "desensitize" my son to scary things. Now the scariest thing there is ToT.

i agree

it was one of the dark rides with the special effects and such and thats what attracted older type of riders to it

are we sure its going to be really less scary?

the ride really needed something, since the line for the ride never really got oustide the building. Its a real waste when a ride is not meeting its OHRC

I agree 100%. Alien Encounter was a walk-on this past July when most of the other attractions had a 90-120 minute wait.

I think the ride will still be scary- it doesn't matter who the character is, when you are in the dark and there are loud noises and movements/things touching you- it's scary. I know a lot of adults who've jumped/screamed when they've seen It's tough to be a bug.

Stitch is also a very popular alien character, so that alone will draw more people to the ride. I can't wait to ride it. -Stephanie

What about the 'special' effects was terribly impressive. They had a number of speakers that played mulitple track audio and some flashing lights. It was a vastly inferior effort compared to numerous other disney attractions. I also always felt the pacing of the ride really lacked.

It's hard to imagine that it will be scary for anyone over the age of 4. It's Stitch. At the end of the day, he was a good guy. How scary can they make it?

I think it doesn't matter who the character is, if you are strapped in a seat in the pitch dark with loud noises and things touching you that is scary to many people. Being in the dark and not know what to expect will be scary to people over 4 yrs old. It's tough to be a bug has similar effects and isn't as dark and people are constantly screaming during the show, it's also a very popular attraction. -Stephanie

I was totally freaked out with AE. It scared me so bad, I refused to go on the ride again, no matter how much I knew it wasn't real. It would be interesting to see how the Stitch one goes. Put me in the 4 and under catagory.

See, its not hard for me to see AE go. I didn't really like it in the first place ( sorry! :animwink: ). Not that it was scary or anything- just seemed like a waste of my time. I personally didn't find it very entertaining---I'd even rather ride Spedway than Alien (and that's pretty sad...)

But what was cool about Alien was standing in the tunnel right below it. It was so loud, it felt like the ceiling was going to cave in. It was really cool.

In about 5 years the line for Stitch's Great Escape will be nonexistant also. The theater is too big and the building can hold 5 theater fulls of people before a queue can even begin (Holding Pin, 1st preshow, 2nd preshow, 2 main chambers).

Alien Encounter was here for 8 years. Yes it only seemed like it was 4 or 5, but it was 8 (and that is WAY too short. It should have stayed 15 years minimum).

And of course it is a mistake. Stitch would be better suited elsewhere where Lilo could be in the attraction also. And it would've been nice to have an attraction with the great music from the film. But Lilo and the music cannot and will not be in this attraction. Heck it's not even really going to be "Stitch". It's going to be Experiment 626 (More like 666 if you ask me :animwink: ).

And no there is no way SGE will be scary. That was the only reason (well the MAIN reason at least) that AE closed in the first place. If SGE is REMOTELY scary and kids start crying in large numbers expect a "Journey Into Imagination with Figment" style makeover VERY SOON.

No No No, the main reason was that it never ment its OHRC. Walking from alien break room to space I walked past its OHRC tracker and it was never meeting it. Astro was doing better then on some days.

But lets keep in mind here that the ride is suppost to take place BEFORE this "good" stich came about. Its suppost to be when he is wild and crazy and everything else.

In terms of the ride needing to be around for 15 years, WHY? if no one is riding it now, how is anyone going to be riding it in 6 more years?

You guys have to remember that the basic for all rides are to draw people in....if they an't doing that, then any attraction will close. Be it 2 months or 75 years old

But yeah also sis is right, it was cooler to stand under the ride then to be on it :slurp:

In a perfect dream world they would have moved AE, with some upgrades and improvements, to another park, and kept a toned down version with Stich at MK. I was extremely disappointed when I got there last year to find AE closed.

I always considered Alien Encounter as a SHOW, not a ride. You just sit there and things happen. You don't go anywhere... you just watch what happens and all that.

Sorry, just something that irks me, but I digress.

That being said, I can't wait to see the Stitch attraction when it opens. I went on Alien Encounter once and it scared the BEJEBUS out of me (and I'm definitely no kid). But I love Stitch so this new show sould be quite a riot and should do really well.
