The latest vacation package on the Disney Parks blog includes 2 extra FPs as part of the promotion
Plus, traveling with your children is easier than you imagined thanks to Disney FastPass+, which lets you reserve access to select attractions online before you even arrive. Included in this package are two additional FastPass+ voucher to use at select preschool-friendly attractions:

Semantics of the "kindermoon" aside, is this the first time Disney has outwardly offered FPs for money? We've known for ages that Disney has wanted to do this, and it seems like they've finally found a way.

$987 for 2 days in the parks and 3 nights at an All Star for a family of 3 isn't anything special, so it seems like they're trying to lure people in at a marginally higher rate. With all the various upcharges around the resort, is this something we're likely to see more of in the near future?

I wouldn't call this charging for FastPass - I'd call it pushing people to attractions that aren't all that busy. I mean it's PhilHar, not Frozen or Mine Train.

I would say these sorts of things are getting the camel's nose into the tent. I can't say that charging for more FastPasses would surprise me at this point. I suppose I would be surprised if they stopped providing some Fastpasses as part of a normal ticket, but then again, maybe they they will eventually have tiered tickets that do or do not include Fastpasses.

I completely agree with everything you posted. The FastPasses provided are really nothing. It's more about what their end-goal is with this.

It saddens me that seemingly everything that TDO does these days is looked at with a "what's their next money-making scheme" eye, and I'm absolutely guilty of doing it, but... Time and time again, it's what TDO has shown us what they care about - How can we MAGICALLY!!! get the most money out of guests while spending as little as possible on the parks? What else can we charge for and still get away with calling it "MAGICAL!!!"? What other ways can we MAGICALLY!!! add to the bottom line (and ensure our bonuses and gravy train continues)?

Agree. This is a significant step toward monetizing FP+. I don't know that we'll ever get to a point where no FPs are included with admission, but I do think we're moving toward models that allows people to pay for more.

I think more accurately it's an additional level of "fabricated value". The Fastpass+ system thrives on the perception of value. If someone thinks they're getting a benefit they're going to be happy. In many cases the Fastpasses being utilized/selected by guests should be largely unnecessary. Disney has created a false demand for Fastpasses at attractions that otherwise don't need it by adding it where it doesn't belong.

Precisely. Disney just released 3 offers, one being this Kindermoon offer, the others for the summer, with and without dining or room discounts. (Kindermoon only runs to June 10)

If I price the Kindermoon vs the Fun and Sun summer offer for the same dates, same resort, same party, same tickets, etc, with the only difference being the Kindermoon FP+ "extras", for a family with a pre-K child, the prices are the same, but they are going to feel that they are getting something special.

Yup. Eventually, I think additional FP's will be meted out to guests based on their resort class. For example: Value 2/day; Moderate 4/day and Deluxe 6/day. It will be a great incentive for upgrading your resort booking. But I doubt DVC will get in on this, since Disney has already made their money on this group.

It was in the patent and various rumors, but this is the first time we see them actually doing it.

Looks like they are giving out pieces of paper? Glad they built a fancy billion-dollar FP system ;)

I hope you're right, but It seems that WDW gives out FP+'s whenever there is any kind of guest complaint. It doesn't seem like the technology issues will prevent them from moving forward.
FP+ is a great commodity because it costs Disney nothing and guests think they are getting something great.
