Extinct Shops and Restaurants

After going thru park guides and Birnbaums, I found that Le Cellier was listed as a Cafeteria/Buffeteria until the 1997-98 time period. After that it was considered a full service restaurant.

I went there when it was a buffeteria. My mom wanted to try it. There were really weird food offerings. I think my Mom and sister ate there and the rest of us went to the Land.

Don't know if this counts...there used to be an alley on the left midway down MainStreet. It has since been closed in/covered and the space added to one of the clothing shops. Anywho, we were able to meet two different princesses on two different days (1st day Jasmine and Belle, 2nd day Cindy and Belle). Couldn't tell you if it was on consecutive days, but it was during the same week. Anyone else remember this being there?
Center Street! So much wonderful stuff used to be there!

Are you refering to the list for DTD?
Nope the list you provided first in the thread for MK, Epcot, etc. I think I've since figured out a few of them are still there. :)

Thanks for that update...somewhere I have videos (VHS) of my youngest and Jasmine carrying on what seemed to be a very lengthy conversation (everyone was in Belle's line)... Center Street was one of our hidden gems back in the day!

Another from the not exactly what you are refering too; the Ocala welcome center. We used to drive (we hvae flown since the mid 2000's) and would always stop at the Ocala welcome center (or whatever is was called) for a map of the "back way" into Disney, via Highway 27. That placed closed sometime in the late '90s or early 2000's.

Ok... Frank and others who have shared some good knowledge, I need your help. I need you to take a look at the outcome of my doing research to determine what still exists and what doesn't and what replaced it eventually (understanding some shops were 5 things before becoming what they are today) and proof read it for me. Am I missing anything? Do I have anything listed that's actually still open?

Here's the links to where the tables are I'm working on. Started with MK first before I move onto the others. :)

http://extinctdisney.com/MK/LSsr.html

http://extinctdisney.com/MK/Frontierlandsr.htm

http://extinctdisney.com/MK/Adventurelandsr.htm

I fully intend to break these out to include information/pictures eventually but for now getting my research and data straight is priority #1 for this new little project for the site. :)

Thanks guys!!

Thanks guys!!

Here's some stuff:
Liberty Square looks good!

Frontierland
Westward Ho was the original shop in the space now called Prairie Outpost, with Bearly Country in the time between. See: http://www.omniluxe.net/wyw/westho.htm

And to be overly technical, regarding the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon:
Listed as a Frontierland attraction 1971-1995
Diamond Horseshoe Revue 10/71 - 10/86
Diamond Horseshoe Jamboree 10/86 - 4/95
(Reservations not accepted after 4/95. Remember when you lined up at the Hospitality House in Town Square to get tickets for the Revue?)

Listed as a Liberty Square attraction after 1995
Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Revue 4/95 - 2/03
Prairie Drifters 1997 - ? (First evening shows)
Miss Minnies Country Christmas 1996 - ?
Goofy's Country Dancin’ Jamboree 7/03 - 9/04

Fantasyland

Lancers Inn 10/71 -10/86 > Gurgis Munchies & Crunchies 10/86 - 2/93 >Lumieres Kitchen 2/93 - 4/98 >Village Fry Shoppe 5/06 – 2/09 > Friar's Nook 3/09 –

Troubadour Tavern 10/71 > Hooks Tavern 1995 - 2001? (Fastpass for Peter Pan)

Kings Gallery which became the Disney Gallery, which is now the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Mad Hatter 10/71 - 10/94 & Castle Camera Shop 10/71 – 1983 were located between Peter Pan and the Fantasyland Theatre (Philharmagic). The Castle Camera Shop became Disneyana 4/83 - 2/90
Mad Hatter became Fantasy Faire 10/94 – 02, which featured Lion King merchandise during the run of Legend of the Lion King. Don’t know what’s there now, Philharmagic shop?(Not to be confused with the small Fantasy Faire stage at the rear of Fantasyland 1981-1996)

Adventureland

Traders of Timbuktu closed in 2000

Tomorrowland
Space Place 1985 - 5/94 > Geigers Counter 5/94 - 6/03
:)

Thank you so much Frank! Just FYI I know that in some cases, some things because something else before they become whatever they are today. At first I was tracking what everything became but realized that in some cases, 3 or 4 things occupied the same space before it became whatever it is now and decided to just put what's there today, to sort of give a geographical reference. Make sense?

I so appreciate the help with the dates etc.! I have a little cleaning up to do but it looks like I captured a good amount! Thank you SOOOO much! You get an official credit for all the help. :)

Ok so I have FINALLY gotten around to making the corrections you pointed out here Frank but have a question... do you have dates on when Kings Gallery and Disney Gallery were open from/to? I can't find them on that site you mentioned either (maybe I'm missing it though).

Oh and any help you can offer on this one? http://extinctdisney.com/MK/mainstreetsr.html

Thanks again! You're a gigantic help!

First time I've peeked in this thread. I recognize that things change but man alive, they've done away with some good things way before their time. Know it's already been mentioned but Diamond Horseshoe will always hold a special place in my heart. Was such a fun show. My dad got given a big kiss on the cheek and then a hat from the main lady. I don't think I have ever seen him turn so red. And my mom's expression was priceless. So many good laughs. That was one that really didn't need to go and considering what it is now it's just a travesty they shut it down probably solely as a cost cutting measure.
