Exploring other resorts

Have any of you ever eaten at a resort other than the one you are staying at, and then taken the opportunity to walk around the lobby, down the hallways, around the building, etc? Just exploring it while you are there? Or is that considered tacky? We are staying at POR and plan to eat at Chef Mickey's and, as of today, I am considering adding 1900 Park Fare to our list, at the Grand Floridian. I would like to explore the resorts a little while I am there and see what they are like inside. Is that allowed?

I recently changed my character dining reservations just so I would be sure to make it to the Grand Floridian to 'look around' again. Loved hanging out there last vacation, so we're doing it again....along with a bfast at 1900.

We did it last year during the Christmas Season and actually took one day to go from resort to resort to check out the resorts, both for how they looked and the Christmas decorations which are wonderful.

I have often eaten at Disney hotels when I am in Orlando on business and not staying at WDW. It's a great way to get a good meal in a nice atmosphere without having to worry about fighting traffic and crowds in other parts of town. I'm sure Disney loves taking my money and they have never refused to allow me to visit one of the hotels. In fact, the last time I was there, the gate guard asked me if I was a guest or just visiting.

We are going in September and are actually staying at the Boardwalk for the first time! And we always make a point of exploring other hotels each trip. There is unique items in most of the hotels that you can't find anywhere else. (I love the merchandise at WL!). Take your time to explore, there are cool things about each hotel. If your eating at Contemporary, look for the three-legged goat in the concorse mural! Have a great trip!

We're planning to ride on over to the Grand Floridian after our Chef Mickey's breakfast so we can check out the gingerbread house. After seeing it with Samanth Brown on the Travel Channel, I'm not missing the opportunity to check it out!!
