Is it just me but isn't the excavated area in question way too big for just one ride? Maybe it's wishfull thinking, but does anyone think this could be a new land? I think that there is more planned then just one new AK ride. I guess we'll just have to wait till 4/22 to find out.

On another note, I was in AK in February and remember seeing cleared land while on the Kali Rapids and I also remember seeing walls up while on the train from Rafiki's Planet Watch ( I still call it Conservation Station).

Even though we've heard many of these things before, I find it interesting that now some are saying that this ride will be built over by "conservation station" and Kali River Rapids. Weeks ago, others we're saying this would be built by Kali River Rapids, but towards the Discovery River.

Could this mean, like copper says, that maybe there is more than just this one attraction in the works, that perhaps we will see a Beastly Kingdom in either location with or without this mountain. Has something happened over at Disney that they are changing plans (if the old rumors were right). It would be very interesting to see what happens. Either way a bridge should be built across the river connecting both Dinoland and Asia. Hope we see alot of great things when the media event is scheduled. Here's to day when we see Forbidden Mountain (Expedition Everest) and yes....Beaslty kingdom. :wave:

Hopefully we will get a better idea after Tuesday's official announcement. If photos of models posted here and other sites are accurate, I think it will be quite a bit different than the Matterhorn, at least on the exterior. I'm excited to find out!

This isn't gonna be the Matterhorn, it's not gonna be big thunder mountain. I think it's gonna be disney's most amazing, thrilling, heavily themed coaster to date. Disney knows they've gotta steal some of IOA's thrill seeking thunder, and it looks like this baby's gonna do it. Granted, this isnt gonna be a HULK, but I'm sure it'll turn some heads. I mean, we'll wait til tuesday for details, but this this is probably going to have a backward section, huge highspeed helixes, and a lot inside in the dark.

I can't wait til Tuesday!!!

Hey all,

I worked over at the Animal Kingdom today, and walked in the cafeteria only to notice a few posters showing the steps in building the new ride... The posters didn't say Expedition Everest though... they said Forbidden Mountain. If I remember right, the first phase was the widening of the walkway in Asia... I dunno if this is old news or not.. It has been a while since I worked at AK up until today. one of the drawings showed the mountain with snow on top fading away the further you go down the mountain turning into rock and dirt. anoter poster has this same shot with Walt Disney painting it... Pretty neat looking.

Gee, I posted that photo six weeks or so ago here.
I've had it and several others since the first of the year, it's nothing new.

Tomorrow should bring some real revelations.
