Where's MKT when we need him?! Maybe he just had his directions off, but I am certain he wasn't lying when he said the area was cleared and footers were down...

Well, lets see...
The area IS cleared off, but it has been for about 4 years.

As for any footers or construction in that space, I have heard of some walkway work that may happen in that area, perhaps they are going to make a path around Kali, who knows?

Also, a project this size is going to require a lagre area for storing track and other materials. This space could be used for that.

Where do I get my Fastpass for Stratusfaction Mountain?:D

Hmmm, wonder what THAT height requirement would be?;)

Finally, I know where this attraction is going ;)

In the "Making of AK" book, it talks about the large areas North of Asia and South of Camp MM that are ready for expansion. It seemed to make sense the mountain would be built in that land cleared North of Asia. But, as originally reported/rumored, it is going closer to the river. (This still lets this land North of Asia open for something else, probably something in the master plan....OK, one thing at a time  )

Personally, I think it is the best location. Its far from any animal exhibits, to keep them noise-free. Its far to the side of the TOL, so when you first see the tree you won't be distracted by even a part of this monstrous mountain. Yet, its not tucked away in the back of the park where you can only see it when close to it (This location will allow guests to see it while crossing the bridges from Asia, Dinoland, and probably Africa). Not to mention, it finally connects the lands so you don't have to always go back to the hub to go to a different land.

*backs out of any and all future Everest threads*

to hell with it.. lol

I've seen the construction with my own eyes... that's more proof than any thread can show me (no offense steve).

Then again... like we all know... Disney park maps have NEVER been drawn to any realistic scale... so for all I know, the area I've seen backstage, could be the same area highlighted on the maps

I think that is the likely answer. The map is hopelessly out of scale, and distance it may go back towards asia could very well be the area you saw.

Wasn't there someone here who used to fly over the parks a lot?

YoooHooo! Mr. Pilot...get your camera up there and get us a recent photo.

Also, anyone going soon should have a clear view of the area across the water from the path to Theatre in the Wild. New photos from there would be appreciated, too.

I'm going tomorrow, I'll see if I can find anything worth taking a picture, especially ladders of any kind. :animwink:

No more ladders remember? I have them all here. Although they may have introduced a new line for the new e-ticket...I wonder if i could get my hands on those. Seeing my title it might not be that difficult. But as far as I know, there are currently no ladders on that construction site.

There is another forum discussing the restrictive air space over WDW.

Myself I would pay the small fee and get a spaceborne current snapshot of the area.

It's only up to 3,000 feet. You can go up to 3,100 feet and get a picture.
