It was suppose to represent a species of birds found in that region that would hover on the air currents.

IMHO it was a good idea, but very poor execution.
It looks strange. I feel like that was an opportunity to employ a clever illusion, but they went with bird on a stick instead.

Oh well I guess.

Pretty much.

Usually the simplest ideas are the best ones. Not so in this case. I would have like to seen them use something akin to the Skycams used at NFL games. That way the bird could have moved in all direction and looked much more realistic.

That kind of rigging would definitely be an improvement.

I think they miss a lot of opportunities for illusions though. Point of perspective is an illusionists best friend! & on the rides & in the parks they can easily manipulate our point of view to see things that would otherwise be impossible from any other perspective.

.... maybe thats a little much for a bird that moves a few inches though...

FWIW, someone on Disboards claims that arm is moving and that the yeti is being worked on after hours.
Won't believe it until I see it. It doesn't seem like a problem that can simply be solved after-hours. Plus, if they were in the process of fixing it, I doubt they'd run the ride with only one part of it working again (its arm) rather than wait until all the work was done.

To the last dozen or so posters who say you think you saw the arm move: you did not. That is all.

What the one poster said about Mike being amazing and having a lot of pull, I have heard the same. I have hopes that he could be the one to get the ball rolling on actually fixing the yeti for once. Though I still don't foresee it happening until after pandora opens...

I'll be there soon. I remember the Yeti the first time I road it years ago. If that thing is not operating, I am going to be mad!
Oh, well then, they'll be sure to fix it!
