I was at WDW in June and we rode Everest 5 times while we were there over the 5 days we were there, on every ride, the Yeti was not working which really irritated me, and the bird wasnt working either.

TDO has definitely perfected the art of "minusing" their attractions, with EE being a prime example. Who wants to take bets as to which will be fixed first, the Yeti or the descent in Spaceship Earth? :p

I really hope they fix the yeti, because when I rode EE with my friends this March, nobody saw it the first time because they didn't know where to look! If the yeti actually came at you, it would probably be one of my favorite attractions, but right now it's a little anti-climactic. Don't get me wrong, I love the ride, but only for the reason that it's a great coaster, not a great overall experience.

Exactly. Walt was always concerned with one piece of trash on the ground, one piece of graffiti on the walls, one thing looking wrong ... because he knew that human nature leads one to follow. If one idiot spits his gum on the ground and you leave it, the next day you probably will have 23 more (see WDW pavement/walkways today).

Some people are OK with that. I had a friend once who used to justify filthy WDW carpet in the resorts by saying ''I never look down'' ... that's fine for many folks. Not for me ... I expect and I DEMAND that I get what I pay for and the product that is marketed to me.

It is VERY misleading that the ads for EE STILL show the working yeti

Not sure if its still visible, but 95% of the comments were praising the ride and said nothing about the yeti one way or another.

Which ads? This?

No yeti.

The bilboards?

No yeti.

The only thing showing the working yeti is the "Making of" special that still airs (as filler).

The vacation planning video also contains Yeti footage, and they're still airing the Animal Kingdom special on the Travel Channel that spends a solid 10+ minutes talking about the Yeti, showing it in action, and interviewing Joe Rohde about its development. In fact, when we watched the 2013 (yes, 2013) vacation video with the kids, they got sick of hearing us say, "Ignore that effect, you won't see that. And those other three things have been completely re-themed since this was shot. Oh that attraction too, that one will be under refurbishment when we're there. No, they're not done building that one yet..."

When I was first planning my Disney vacation the video I posted the link to above got me so excited. Even my Grandma thought how amazing it looked. It's seriously misleading for people who think they will be seeing what is shown to get there and see it isn't like that at all

As of Monday October 1, both water falls working, no steam, no bird and the room with the yeti was as bright as I have seen it with no strobe light. Just very bright. I was pleased with this compared to the disco strobe light.

Bamboo was covering 80-90% of the maintenance building visually. Almost there.

It still amazes me that Disney remains mum on the subject. I rode EE several times before it broke down, and it was an amazingly better overall experience than it is with disco yeti. Assuming they can't actually fix it anytime soon, why can't they put some true graphics up there, like in the "Magic,Memories and You" show on the castle? Would it be so hard to project a moving yeti on a scrim, with certain real yeti features in the background? Disco lights, like I've said before, can be installed with a few hours on a step ladder and a trip to the hardware store. For years, that's the best we've gotten. In that time, you'd think a multi-billion dollar corporation could have have spent some true time and money to put something more than a strobelight band-aid on their multi-million dollar embarassment. Until it's fixed for good, at least they could put some real graphics on it to make it a true experience. Some smart person in power should be saying, "Fine, we can't fix it right now, let's at least budget $100,000 to put in something that's not pathetic."

From what I understand from a former imagineer that used to shop with me at the Tea Shop here in orlando that I worked at, in order to fix the Yeti, they have to take the whole mountain apart. It is in three Parts, Left, Right and Yeti. I am of the opinion that this wont happen and thats what the former imagineer felt as well. Its too risky and it will take a very long time is my guess..... But again, who knows! I just know that LAST tuesday when I was there, it was very dark in the yeti room and you could barely make him out!
