Expedition Everest Construction?

The "mountain" should be visible over the trees sometime in 2004.
Lots of ground work to be done before actual vertical construction can begin.

They are working on the bridge, I believe - last time I was there the river was all dammed up near the Tarzan theater.

Is it possible for the bridge to open for pedestrians, before E:E opens?

I'm sure the bridge will open before E:E opens... it's just a matter of how long before the opening of E:E that the bridge will open... ;)

I'll be there late August, armed with a camera and a painfully large curiosity. If it can be seen...I'll take a photo.

Roller coaster.

Its a modified Vekoma mine train.
Capable of forward and backward travel.
Equipped with Yeti repellant paint.

I read here somewhere a while ago that the ride would be somewhat tame for a rollercoaster to allow the younger age groups to ride.

I wouldn't say tame, exactly.

Somewhere between Big Thunder and RnRC.

An 80 foot drop is pretty tall for a Disney Coaster. That, plus the backward movement and helixes should make for a pretty thrilling ride.

The more I think about this ride, the less excited I get. It seems like it will be too thrilling for little children to ride but not thrilling enough to draw the teens in. It just doesn't seem like the proper move to me. Also, no matter how much I try not to, I still think it is Big Thunder Mountain with a Yeti shoved inside. They could have made any type of coaster but they chose yet another mine train? Oh well, maybe it will surprise me.

I know how you feel...

They sometimes forget that teens visit disney parks too. thats why some of them take a turn north on I-4 to another world called universal.

I really hope this thing is not another big thuder railroad whatever the name is.

but I have to admit. Disney is catching up a little. I mean they gave us Rock and rollercoaster. then mission space ... Maybe this will surprise us.

That leads me to an interesting question. I wonder what the average dollar of revenue per person in the various age groups is? Is Disney better off attracting more families or more teens on a per capita basis. I'm looking forward to Everest. Disney has rarely made their mark by "out-thrilling" the competition but rather by "out-theming" the competition. I think that a coaster that goes both forwards and backwards will be a good hook.

Well anything new at AK sounds good to me...and with an 80ft drop, add backward movement and a Yeti this isn't big thunder (but I know what you mean, we've all been dissapointed before), lets just see what happens. IF anything it would be a nice addition to the AK skyline. :animwink:

Does anyone rememeber when the actual testing of ground and studies were made for EE?
Did anyone here see the big air ballons simulating the ceiling of the attraction?

They usually do this to see the visuals of the attractions from a distance. And how it would affect the skyline.

I love how people assume all teens love extreme rides. This is just not true. Dont forget a lot of these kids grew up with Disney. There are also a very good amount of thrill rides for everyone. There is a nice mix currnetly although another darkride for AK or Epcot would be nice...

Um...let's see...you leave the station, head through a beautiful rain forest before starting up the lift hill to the summit of the mountain, heading through a mystical temple along the way, and at the top, the ground starts quaking as you plummet backwards into an icy cave, snow flying in your face (real snow...) and rocket backwards at speeds of 50 mph with several encounters with the most advanced Audio Animatronic creature Disney has ever created, snow flying at you the entire trip, climaxing with final scene where you will get as close as humanly possible to this terrifying beast, before once again resuming forward motion right into an 80-foot drop leading into a highly-banked helix, all the while listening to an exciting musical score. Thrilling? Yes. Imagine going 50 mph in a convertible through a blizzard...with a monster chasing you, and who knows what else...I think it will blow ever the teenagers away, and in some ways, I would say this will feel even more intense than RnR--excepting the launch, this ride will have a higher sustained speed (we all know than RnR slows down after the cobra roll), much more intense ride effects, and will feel even more enclosed with the addition of caves, plus the backwards motion. Comparing this ride experience to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad would be to compare Pirates of the Caribbean to "it's a small world"...VERY different ride experiences.

Yep.

What Kyle said.

Trust me, Everest is going to meet and exceed everyone's expectations...can I ride it yet?:brick:
