Expecting and hitting the world

if you've traveled to the world pregnant when did you go? DH and I were trying for baby #2 but not expecting it to happen so quick (which I should be very grateful for). We were hoping to make a November trip instead of our usual January one thinking it would take a bit longer to get pregnant. But now I'm due in Feb so I think November is still kinda late. We couldn't bear missing Disney for more than a year so I'm wondering when other pregnant moms have traveled and how you felt? I would love to travel in September since I've heard the crowds are low and it's still early for me but my parents who normally travel with us are away most of that month.

I traveled down there when I was expecting with my first (and thus far only) I was in the earlier stages at just about 3 and a half-4 months myself so I don't think I could be much help. I was due in February as well, and went in August. I was able to enjoy the world without being uncomfortable at the same time. I would say if you could squeeze in a trip the earlier the better.

Other than that.

Congratulations!

I went in September when I was 5 months pregnant with my second child. I honestly felt like it was no different than going non pregnant other than no cocktails. My OBGYN told me that going on rides would not have any affect on my pregnancy all the same I still avoided EE , RnR, ToT etc... but I pretty much rode everything else, and we had a great time.

We always traveled in September or October after we had my DS. We planned on going before my DD was to be born around ThanksGiving. I started to ask my OB about emergency referral just in case. She looked me straight in the eye, didn't blink and said NO! Wasn't prepared for that. So we went for my DD 2 month birthday for 2 weeks instead. It was great bonding time and she did beyond great at the World.

We met my Sister down for at Disney for Christmas and she was about 7 months. While she enjoyed herself she couldn't do the things she wanted to so it was a bittersweet Christmas. She is normally high energy, early dawn riser, that trip she wore out quickly.

Congratulations! I'm due in February. Same situation. Was not expecting to get pregnant so quick. I will be in the World in Aug. about 12 weeks pregnant. I will miss some of the rides and specialty drinks like Lapu Lapu. However, I am looking forward to the new experiences I will have time to enjoy and indulge on a few little treats that I make have been to weight concerned otherwise. I will let you know how it goes.
I am sure you will be fine in November. It will be cooler and not too crowded assuming you will stay away from holiday times. Do what is best for you and your family. If you are concerned late September is nice too and cheap.

I'd say get out of that first trimester because, at least for me both times I was pregnant, that's when I was sick. I would DIE if I was at WDW fighting morning sickness. LOL! I didn't go to WDW pregnant but did do some traveling. Believe me, it's not cool to pull off the side of the main road along the beach for a puke stop. The police stopped to check on me thinking they'd be getting someone for public intoxication. Nope. Just public pregnancy. o_O

thanks all for the tips! Yes i'm definitely dealing with alot of morning sickness (and afternoon and evening) so traveling now is an absolute no no. my first pregnancy I had no problems and took a cruise at 4 months. I'm thinking I should be OK for November but just worried I was pushing it. Now I'm just waiting for those discounts for November to come out!!

Gabe - so you took your DD when she was 2 months to WDW? How was that? The plane ride, the parks, etc. I guess that could be an option if we waited till after the baby. Though I get sad thinking I'll go more than 12 months without my fix :)

I've been twice pregnant. My dr told me I could do anything that I did before. Of course I didn't do wild rides but we had a blast. And we also took our two month old. She was a breeze. Can't help it if you have a trip planned and paid for then find out your preggers. We just rolled with the flow. But I can honestly say I never had morning sickness. I know lucky.

It was fantastic. I had a 4.5 year old DS already who had been to the world 4 times prior. Even while I was pregnant the DD had her days and nights mixed up and it continued after she was born. Well with all the in and out of the stroller it forced her into our sleep pattern. Day 2 we woke up and she slept through the entire night.
Best $3500 we ever spent just for that. All three of us were up and we debated over who had to go poke her to see if she was still breathing. It was great bonding time with the whole family. We baby swapped quite a bit. Rides like people mover, haunted mansion, Energy, great movie ride put both my kids to sleep when a nap was needed. It was the end of January when we went down for 2 weeks just prior to my maternity leave being up. I had bought a heavier pink minnie mouse coat for her before we went down and it was a pants trip that year, never know. But the weirdest thing for us going through the winding queues was just about every one we passed asked how old, boy or girl. (pink minnie coat folks, lol) Easily 20 time per queue.

The plane ride was fine, from Chicago. She slept most of the time both ways. We rented a car in case buses were not working for us, but the buses were fine and we didn't have to deal with in and out of a hot car seat. I had surgery while pregnant with her so a hurdle was I had to ship down her specialized formula and jugs of water and washing bottles but I didn't care cause I was in Disney. We rented a stroller for the 4 year old and she molded herself into an umbrella stroller we brought, it kinda swaddled her and worked out perfect. I used the Disney Stroller to change her though on a receiving blanket. I'd find a discrete place. I wasn't quite ready to use the communal changing areas with a newborn. Oh and the ceiling fan in the room, her in car seat in resort room bed, she couldn't get enough of that and the balloon tied to DS stroller, well she loved that too.

My warning is, if you decide to do it, I took a lot of heat from family, friends and total strangers in Disney about her being to young to be in public. She did fine and didn't get any of those horrible illnesses people predicted. I actually had one person tell me, you know she isn't going to remember Disney World. Well Duh.
But it was a great way for us to bond as a family with her and her with my DH and DS more. It also helped that my son got so much attention, give he was an "only" for over 4.5 years. He got to ride every ride we chose to swap twice in a row, once with Mom, once with Dad. One of our best trips and we had one every year.

I went in May of 2012 at 34 weeks and had so muh fun! We took so many maternity photos and had fun doing things we usually run right past. We are only a 3.5 hour drive from WDW so no plane or super long car ride I deal with. Wear comfortable shoes, drink lots of water, and make sure you don't push yourself. And enjoy the FOOD!! :)

I went at 18 weeks pregnant, and had a great time! I had morning sickness the entire pregnancy, but it wasn't as bad between weeks 17-27, so that was a good time for me to visit. I stayed away from any rides that had pregnancy warnings on them, and I brought my own filtered water bottle so I could stay hydrated. It was very hot while we were there, so I tried to do indoor attractions in between outdoor ones, so I could stay cool. It worked out great, I'd do it again. :)

I travelled 7mo pregnant with my first. I would just say take it slow and sit down a lot. I don't know where you are staying but if it is mod or value, I would request a ground floor room. Going up stairs at the end of a long day is near impossible. (I know most have elevators but they are usually far away from the room and that is extra walking). Do not try to do too much and use it as a great excuse to do more shopping. :)

I live in Orlando and went until right before due date. I was also due in July. I worked at Sea World until a week before due date. Mind you it is a lot hotter in July than November. I rode some rides ... TTA, Buzz, Carousel of Progress, Dumbo, Ariel, Storytime with Belle, Phillarmagic, Haunted Mansion, Country Bears, Pirates,Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Railroad, Shows at Hollywood Studios, Great Movie Ride, Nemo, Figment, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Mexican Boat Ride, Shows in World Showcase, Captain EO, Ellens Energy Adventure, Shows at Animal KIngdom, Safari (a little bumpy), animal trails, triceratop spin, wildlife train

I was about 7 or 8 weeks on our last trip, in January. It was OK. I was a little sick to my stomach here and there (and the plane ride was a little rough on me which is not typical for me,) but it was all right. Our older son is only 2 so it's not like we were going to be park commandos anyhow. I just made sure I stopped and drank a lot of water. I was sad to be unable to partake in any delicious adult beverages, though. ;)

I'm 8 months along now and I would die if I had to go walk WDW even at a leisurely pace. I'd say anything past about 6 months for me would have been unpleasant, but everyone is different. I think the weather makes a big difference too.
