In the 'TT Refurb' thread there was a reference made to an exclusive passholder lounge that once existed in The Land pavillion. I didn't want to hijack that thread by asking there..but.. does anyone have any further info on this lounge? Does it still exist? If not, when was it closed? Just curious. Never knew that was there.

Thanks, y'all!

There were two annual passholder lounges at one time. One in the Land and one at the Animal Kingdom. The one in the Land was by far the nicer of the two.

It was on the third level of the Land. If you've ever noticed the elevator that takes you down to lower level (when you walk in, it's to the left of the Garden Grille, in the alcove with the bathrooms), that was the way to passholder lounge. That elevator actually goes up a level, which is where the lounge was, but you needed to press the buttons in an odd way to make it happen. When you got to the third floor, there was a small hallway to walk down and then a reception desk. You can see the hallway if you look up from the main level. The lounge had a few couches, a television, water and soft drinks, and even got some character visits now and then. I have a few pics somewhere of the lounge.

The AK lounge was outdoors, and was roughly behind Pizzafari if I recall. Water was available, and a couple of electronic games (whack a mole type things), and that was about it. It was quiet and shady, but not much else to recommend.

I don't remember how long they were open, but they closed at least 5 years ago.

Man...those places where the best. (Mainly the sponsor lounge at The Land!) I don't get why, with all the unused spaces for one, they didn't keep them.

I used to love the AP lounges, all the free drinks and a lovely place to just sit down for a while and relax in the AC.

Such a shame they got rid of them a few years back.

Yeah, they had the passholder lounges a few years ago, right around the 100 Years of Magic Celebration I believe.

The Land one was nice. It had refreshments and had a TV with movies to watch.

They opened them when tourism was down in Disney. Once they gained attendance, they closed them up.

That elevator actually goes up a level, which is where the lounge was, but you needed to press the buttons in an odd way to make it happen.

Yeah, I remember them saying something like "press 2 and 3 together."

But I always thought that never really made a difference.

I wish they'd bring back the Land's AP lounge. They had free coke, A/C, a unique interior view of the Living with the Land ride, and ocassional character
visits from Mickey and friends.

The AK lounge was ok but it lacked A/C.

I looked through some old pics and figured out the lounge in the Land was open in July of 2002. I have a picture of myself sitting in the lounge, reading a Wall Street Journal with Mickey standing beside me. I thought the juxtoposition was funny.

It gave me the date because story I was reading in the Journal was about Worldcom's financial reporting fraud, and that story broke in the summer of 2002.

if only they could have a lounge elsewhere in the parks.. isn't their a lounge in COP at MK?

what about some un-used lounges at Epcot like the seas one... does kodak use the imagination one?

studios could use some empty space, if there is any not earmarked for something else, for one...

it was a nice perk available before i got my ap, available only for a short time.

Yeah, I actually did a CP back in 02' and was a role hopper. I do rememeber the AP holder lounge in The Land Pavillion. The elevator right by the bathrooms there, was the entrance. You had to push both of the buttons (up and down) at the same time, and it took you up to a third level. I cleaned up there occasionally when I had custodial shifts. Man, what good memories...

The Land one was really nice, went a few times. The imagination pavillion has one for Kodak employees and I'm sorry that I never went to check it out when I worked for them.

My bet is that they've changed the "password" in the elevator controls. Otherwise, there'd be too many AP holders that used it before trying it out again and going up to an unstaffed floor.

As for the person who mentioned CoP, there used to be a AAA Lounge around behind the Carousel of Progress for people who booked vacation packages through AAA. Not sure if it's still in use.
