Is there anymore info on this park anywhere??

plans, ride lists, hotels etc????

at the minute it looks like a pile of sand - but am sure someone knows the purpose of each pile of sand!!!!!!

is there going to be utillidors lol? dont looklike t from the pics

i also thought when looking at it for first time that expansion was not going to be much of an option they must have a plan for expansion surely????

as for the money side of things i was under the impression it was costing disney next to nothing and like Tokyo its another company building and funding it and Disney just gets a cut off the profits

bit like the mcdonalds franchise - give it a few years and there will me disney land on every other street corner :D

Wow! Thanks for sharing!!! When is it due to open?

Is this going to be owned by another company, like Tokyo Disney is?

okay, i have to say some things here. First:
-meanmice...this pic: http://photoalbums.wdwmagic.com/data/500/1080overallsite3.jpg you can see a bridge in the background which links the island to the city, so no boats are needed (i bet they will still use some though)
-I really do think disney knows what they are doing, one they do huge survays to find the perfect place, and two, Hong Kong is a huge city of 6,724,900 people, as compared orlando who has a population of 1,697,906. Also, the country Hong Kong is in is the most populated country in the world, with over a billion people. It is also close to Singapore (pop. 3,490,356) and the country of India (pop. Over 1 billion). Not to mention all of Australia and Japan.

am proabbaly being thick but wheres the bridge lol

is that it in the top right hand corner and it looks like it goes into the mountains as aposed to joining the island on the main sandy bit?

whats Disney saying about expansion?

whats actually being buitl at the minute?

yes, it is in the upper right hand corner. A bridge does not touch the sandy 'bit' probably because it is too far away from land, or two, disney doesn't want a giant bridge right outside the park where you could see from anywhere in the park. A road could and probably does lead from that bridge around the hill/moutain to the sandy 'bit'

The beauty of building in hong kong is that disney has access to the potential consumers in mainland china (being a comunist country they don't let people travel willy nilly but hong kong is now part of china so the 1,000,000,000 (that's a billion) Chinese can get there a lot easier than they can get to Tokyo

The island that HKDL is on is the same island as the airport that serves Hong Kong is on. there's a highway that goes from the city to the airport right on the other side of the mountian from the bay being filled in. The auto access to the site is through a mountian pass. (seen in the rear corner of the photo in overall site photo #3) I think the side of the island that's being filled in is on the city view side of the island so it may be somewhat protected from storms coming in off the ocean but I'm not that sure about the local topography

The bay being filled in is going to hold more than just the magic kingdom and resort hotels, there is room for a second theme park (I'll guess that it would be a hollywood theme but I'm sure they're going to get this one up and see how it goes before they even thing about the second) and I think the government is planning to keep some of the land for themselves or use it for other things (since I believe they are the ones paying for the infill)

I have a map of the area from laughingplace but couldn't find the page to link to it and don't have my own photo album (sorry)

Here's a description of what's in Hong Kong from a mouseplanet update (edited to remove a few sarcastic comments) but from what I've seen it's pretty accurate. Very big adventureland, very few attractions...

Any more questions??????

Ed

Here's the rundown for it, gathered from several sources, subject to change of course,

* It will have a Main Street USA, anchored by a familiar train station on the Town Square, leading to three Lands; Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Adventureland.

* Tomorrowland consists of a Space Mountain, a Buzz Lightyear, and the Rocket Jets, shops and a Tomorrowland Terrace.

* The Castle is almost a direct copy of Disneyland USA's, as the size and scale the same. Fantasyland is done in the old Disneyland style, (in a much cheaper to build "medieval faire" plywood heavy theme with banners and tents) and it has a Carousel, a Winnie The Pooh dark ride (Florida version, not the Tokyo one), Tea Cups, Dumbo, a 3-D show called Mickey's PhilharMagic, and a Fantasyland Train Station. (The Park train only makes two stops, Main Street and Fantasyland)

* Adventureland is basically a river called "Rivers of Adventure" with an island in the middle. Jungle Cruise- sized "river boats" travel around the river in place of a large steamboat or sailing ship with some "show scenes" along the banks of the river. There is a Pocahontas' Canoe attraction that travels the same river, plus Rafts that take you over to Tarzan Island that has a version of Disneyland's rather inexpensive Tarzan's Treehouse in the middle. Adventureland also has an "Adventureland Theater" where a Lion King stage show may be produced.

And that's IT for the attractions.

There are no Pirates, no Mansion, no Small World, no Thunder or Splash, etc., what people consider to be the signature Disney attractions. There is no Indy or Star Tours.

That just seems kind of.. dumb. Those are signature Disney attractions.. It won't seem like Disneyland without them. And only Main Street, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Adventureland?! This doesn't seem to be heading in the right direction at all. :(

You got that right. I've dawn blueprints all of the disney theme park plans (it's a hobby of mine ) and it has me so dissapointed I'm thinking of not bothering with this one. I'm thinking of just drawing what I would have put there instead.

I got a bunch of disney blueprints off the net (second hand copies of copies), I also got a bunch of cast member handouts like standard operating procedure manuals which tell how each ride work and I got sattelite photos af all the parks from terraserver.com (before there were color sattelite photos from globeexplore).

I had all this info at different scales, different sizes, different levels of detail, different media, some of the park plans were out of date. So I'm putting all the data into the computer in as much detail as possible (for no particular reason, Disney has all this info already I just had access to the CAD software and a lot of time on my hands)

I don't think WDI would give that type of stuff to me, besides collecting it myself and sharing is more fun (even if WDI gave it to me I don't think they would like me posting the info on the web) . I have a lot of my drawings available on the net at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disneyworldmodelersclub/
click on the photos link to the left and then the file marked "Ed's plans"

Let me know what you think:king:

As long you don't pubish them, you're ok..

That almost looks like reverse engineering...that's an illegal act.

If they are the previously mentioned blue prints or your "self" (you know what I mean) engineered ones, and look like the originals, you better take them off, you're infringing copyrights, and risking law suits... In this case (of many) Disney can, and will sue people to full extend of the law...

No threat just a advice...

those are great. If you look at the first three pics, then look at the 4th picture and try to find the things you saw in the first three, you get a great idea of how large that peice of land is. great pics. Thank you :)
