exception to the DDP

Hi,

I've been reading up on the DDP to get a better understanding of it before I head down to WDW this Dec. I understand that the TS is just a drink(water/soda/tea), entrée and dessert. But what I don't understand is when other members write about some exceptions to the DDP, what are they referring to? are there exceptions/limitations that are only pointed out at the restaurant?

for example, if I were to look at a menu at any of the DDP TS restaurants, am I going to see entrées flagged as apart or not apart of DDP?

Thanks

Exclusions from the DDP are add-ons. For example, if they have steak and the option to add on a lobster tail for surf & turf, the lobster tail would cost you cash over and above your DDP credit. Desserts for two have to be shared by two people using DDP, you can't order it just for yourself.

I think that's it. If it's on the menu as an entrée, you can order it.

Monty, you seem to be the go-to for DDP business so I'll ask you. I've never been on the DDP as a couple before, only with my entire family, but I was wondering if the servers can ever be nudged to let a couple get an appetizer, two entrees and one desert even though the official policy is 2 entrees, 2 deserts.

Officially no. I've never tried myself, so I can't say for sure. I have heard people try without success nearby when I've been dining.

I suspect if you get a nice server, they could tweak the bill [if they even can], but if it shows an appetizer, it'll be billed.

And as a "good exception", there are some places what will allow you to get a milkshake or other non-alcoholic beverage as your beverage. I know I've done this at both Sci-Fi and Prime Time Cafe at the Studios.

I have tried and failed. In my experience, they have not been flexible with this.

It technically is not allowed, and I rarely hear of a server allowing it to be done. It's really best to stick with what the plan entails and pay for your extras.

Yes, most places will allow this (excluding that punch with the light up toy). When the gratuity was included, servers used to really push these expensive drinks on people because it would guarantee them more cash.
