Trip Report Everything Is Just So Peachy Keen! *COMPLETED*

It certainly was for us Georgia peaches this last week! For those who may be new here, let us introduce ourselves. We are Tuvalu and Em, a mother-daughter duo who love traveling together to Walt Disney World. We take multiple trips per year (this was our third for 2022) and for us, time spent at our resort is just as important to us as time spent in the parks. Slow-paced relaxation is vital to us!

I’m sure this laid-back vibe is what draws people to cruises: pools, bars, a variety of restaurants and activities from which to choose . I can’t do ships. But I can happily “land cruise” at WDW!

Hope you decide to follow along and learn about the surprises on our most recent voyage.

When: July 20-27, 2022
Where: Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resorts

I offered to wait in line with Woody for Rock ‘N Roller Coaster. It’s one of his favorites.

We chose the Single Rider Line so we wouldn’t have to queue in the sun. The day was shaping up to be a scorcher. The outdoor part of the SRL was undercover in the shade and while we were stationary for periods of time it was bearable. Especially after we made it inside to the a/c.

I left Woody in the load zone as I took the backstage exit. 🐓

He can’t keep his eyes open during the launch. (I promise he wasn’t sleeping!)

I have the same eye issues. My grandson on the other hand wants to cover his ears and hold on at the same time. My daughter and son-in-law looks like they are at the dentist. 😳

I had mobile ordered lunch while in line for RnRC but we had some time to kill. I suggested shop browsing on Sunset Blvd. for the comfort of the a/c.

I was also hoping to see if the “XS” Unisex tees were still available to surprise Em with one. There were a couple of cute patterns she liked.

I was flabbergasted to discover that the entire line of undersized (mis-sized?) tees was gone. A month earlier about half the shelves in the store were full of these tees. I thought perhaps they’d been moved to a different location in the park, but a check of every store in DHS proved fruitless. (I even looked in the Emporium and Creations later for them.)

Sorry, Em!

The tee hunt had killed enough time for our mobile order window to open up.

None of you will be surprised where we ate.

The carrots did not make it into my purse. I finished them. :jawdrop:

Woody and I also finished our Cokes. The cups were heavy on the ice and we were both pretty thirsty. I decided to verify for myself if PizzeRizzo gave free refills.

Normally Woody gets us refills at places that offer them. But since we were unsure about PizzeRizzo, I did not want him to feel embarrassed should he be turned down at the counter.

I marched up to an empty pick up spot and asked the CM if I could get a refill.

“Sure can!” she chirped.

She handed me a new cup already filled with Coke and I carried both my empty cup and the full cup upstairs to our table. Then I poured half into Woody’s cup.

“It worked,” I winked.

After lunch we visited our Muppet pals.

(The Gonzo clock was broken….and still is! ☹️)

How cute are these guys?

Although I wish they didn’t have to sit on top of a trash can!

And speaking of broken things….

No opening curtain? This was so odd.

The ending lacked a curtain too.

There was no curtain call. :hilarious:

Woody and I opted for a leisurely ride on the Skyliner. We figured we’d arrive at Epcot around 2pm when park hopping was allowed.

On a steamy August afternoon our cabin was quite comfortable. The airflow worked very well. I still laugh at the naysayers who claimed the gondolas would be “ovens” without a/c, literal death-traps for passengers. (Like Disney wouldn’t have considered the Florida heat before green-lighting the project. 🙄) Why do people feel the need to publicly grumble about things they know nothing about??! (Oh wait, it’s the internet….)

However I’m going to comment about something I don’t know everything about. Call me a hypocrite if you will, but if a young couple is wearing “Just Married” buttons at WDW I’m going to assume they are on their honeymoon. And if they are on their honeymoon, they should be giddy with happiness and want to sit beside each other and focus on each other, shutting out the distractions of the world.

Therefore it made me incredibly sad when a “Just Married” couple sat down in our gondola across from each other on the long travel leg from CBR to Epcot. The wife just scrolled on her phone, oblivious to everything around her, while the husband stared blankly out the window. Granted I don’t know their story, but I do know ignoring your spouse on your honeymoon does not bode well for your marriage.

Anyhoo the next picture was taken at 2:01 pm.

Our first stop was Creations Shop (awkward name) where we picked up our Passholder magnet and checked the Starbucks for Em’s mug, on the infinitesimal chance a new shipment had arrived. (Spoiler alert: it hadn’t.)

Then Woody used his ILL for his second-ever ride on Guardians. Disco Inferno was the song that played as he helped save the Galaxy.

As I waited for him a woman who had just gotten off the ride ran past me to 🤮.

Thankfully Woody came out smiling!

Tuvalu, as I recall from those early forum discussions -- I think the issue back then was if the gondola system (malfunctioned or broke down), and no air would be cycling through. (During normal operating functions, this is not an issue.)

Then Woody spoke his infamous phrase, “So it’s a problem we can solve with money.”

As time goes on this is more of my vacation philosophy. DH and I don’t really get anything for each other for birthdays/anniversaries etc and instead spend that money on vacation stuff.

Introvert happily married to an introvert for over a decade. I obviously don’t know this couple’s story either but maybe they were ignoring each other, they could have been “recharging”.

Sometimes some people just need breaks from people. Even people they love very much.

Woody and I whooshed (our sound for the monorail 😉) from Epcot to the Poly. We took a quick break to shower and put our feet up for about a half hour before returning to DHS.

Using our ILL for Rise of the Resistance was first on our agenda.

I confess it was money well spent! We bypassed the lengthy line and went straight into the room with BB8 and Rey. Every special effect (sans cannons) was operating correctly. Overall it was a very fun experience!

Have you ever watched the Darts scene from Ted Lasso?

It is a quote attributed to Walt Whitman

In this case maybe this is their normal way of hanging out together, or they were just having a bad day

We wouldn’t be real fans if we didn’t complain about every single decision the company makes. Don’t forget we were also all going to die from lightning strikes on the skyliner too! I still see people freaking out when they see the gondolas stopped during a storm thinking there are actually people in them, and those people are apparently in grave danger!
