Everest soft opening?

Found this tidbit in a Google search:

"A very reliable source that I trust has told me that Disney is pushing to have Expedition Everest up and running for guests by Christmas. They said that the majority of the rock work and inside stuff will be done by the middle of the fall and testing will begin in November with a pre-Christmas opening to guests on a limited basis with the hope of a fully running attraction by Christmas."

Hopefully it will be open early December when I'm there. But I doubt it.

Possible, yet very highly unlikely. For one, consider any delays that might be caused by storms in the summer and fall. Also, I think that's a really optimistic construction timeline. And, as Thrawn said, they don't want to be ironing out potential problems with the ride with the holiday rush looming close at hand. It would be best to wait until after the holiday rush to begin testing (and also give those holiday guests something to come back for). I'd expect an early January soft opening at best, with a soft-open later in the month more likely.

That's what I've heard.
The marketing dept would love to get it open in time for the holliday rush, but that's a very long shot at best.

Off-topic: Everest shirts are now available at AK. A source gave me one of each of the two designs a few months ago. My avatar is one of them.

Well I am at least relieved to hear that '2006' refers to early 2006. I mean, at least it's not december 06!!! I could never wait that long. Not to mention, how long did test track take because of the glitches it had? How do we know everest won't be the same?

I doubt anything will be as bad as Test Track again - TWDC and WDI learnt a lot of how not to do things with that mess. Look at Disneylands Space Mountaain - not a new build from scratch, but still an engineering feet, and rumours now have soft openings around the 4th of July. Foolish? Maybe, but it shows what CAN be done considering the Pressler/Harris timetable was November..

It was 18 months. TWDC hasn't repeated anything near that with the rides since then, even though many have been much more complicated.

The MOST I am hoping for is for the scaffolding to be removed when I visit in September. I think just the mountain in the background will make for wonderful Photo Ops.

I'll probably just go next summer... since i'm already going this summer. I usually go every summer.
Maybe spring is better because of the weather...
