Everest - Comparisons

I know what with the theming and all, it isn't like any other rollercoaster, but I just wondered what the actual ride is like and if you can compare it to another?
Is it similar to Big Thunder but with the addition of a big drop? Or more like ROTM?
Do you do the drop forwards or backwards? And is the drop like a steep Splash M drop or is it a long, more staggered drop?

Its not nearly as wild as RnRC (never been on RotM).
I'd say its more of a staggered drop, there's a small drop backwards, then a larger one forwards.

RotM?.... im drawing a blank.

i would add the intensity level a little higher since there is a backwards section in the dark..... i can see were some phobias would really come out there. not really bothering me, but i can only imagine some peoples fears.

I'd rank it as slightly more thrilling than Space Mountain, but the drop is not as steep as Splash Mountain's. The track curves feel a little like BTM but they're much more banked and the train moves faster than BTM's does. So fun! :D

When I'm explaining Everest to my guests I basically tell them that is a run away train sort of experience, must like Big Thunder, but that you do go backwards through the mountain for a short time in the dark. The drop is about as intense as Spalsh Mountain...

Hope this helps

How high does it actually seem when you're up there? Again, any comparisons?
I don't know why I'm so anxious about all this actually coz I've done The Hulk, Dueling Dragons, ToT and RnR so I'm sure I can handle this!
How's the yeti at the end? Scary? Like the last dinosaurs in JP River Adventure and Dinosaur scary?

You can see far out across WDW of you look behind you to the left on the main lift, so it "feels" very high. The top of the building is 199 feet, but of course you stay several feel lower. The "big" drop is, 80 or 80-something feet, but it doesn't have much airtime because it curves to the left early. Thus, even with the large physical size of the mountain and speed and lots of track and height, Everest clearly remains on the mild side as roller coasters go... much milder than what you mention above.

The Yeti is "interesting." I was surprised at how short the time is that it is visible, though. It made me want to take multiple rides to see it slightly more clearly, but I never quite do. It's weird... we pass it so quickly that I can't appriciate its supposed impressiveness... it doesn't look like it moves too much more than those on Dinosaur, honestly. Yes, I know it DOES, but I'm just saying...

ok let me just say...if you've done all those other rollercoasters you're going to laugh at yourself for being so scared about this one...or at least that's my opinion on it..

yes, the drop is forwards, and I would compare the height to Splash....the view is amazing...for the 2 seconds you can see it

I know, I always get like this.... I love it once I'm on and it's going, but I always manage to get myself scared beforehand
I think ToT is worst, all that anticip................................ation!

It's a faster but smoother ride than Space or Thunder Mts. To me, the big drop is not really even the most intense part of Everest, unlike Splash. My 7 year old daughter liked Everest. It's a great ride, but there are a lot of scarier coasters out there.

Return of the Mummy and Rockin Roller Coaster are much more intense than Everest. In my opinion, Everest is still a family coaster but a little more intense than say Big Thunder Mountain.

Cool thanks everyone, I'll chill out a bit now :hammer:
Going to Alton Towers tomorrow, now I just need to psyche myself up to go on Oblivion (last time I said never again!)

I just wanted to add that while the forward drops are no big deal, the backward part in the dark where you go up hill is slightly disorienting. I've had kids so I sometimes get dizzy now & it felt to me almost like we were going upside down so I did get a little dizzy. What a rush though!:)
