Hey,

Has anybody heard if there will be an Everest Challenge for 2011? The runDisney calendar was recently updated to include Wine and Dine 2011 and other marathons though 2011 and although the Everest Challenge is still on the list, it is the June 2010 information.

Anybody know anything?

I asked about the Everest Challenge at the runDisney booth at the Wine and Dine Expo. She told me that they did plan on doing the event again, but the date would probably be in May next year. She was not sure when they would announce it. I believe it was January or Feburary before they announced this years race.

Yup...I've been registered for awhile now, along with my wife in her first ever race....great way to start.

She's already got the distance, now we're working on a bit of speed :)

I'm looking forward to it. My wife and I are in full training mode for the Wine and Dine half, so we're not particularly worried about this distance, just having fun!

By the way, I contacted runDisney, as I had not received our waivers or bib numbers yet, and they said they were not out yet, but should be by the end of the week, so watch your email!

Wife and I are signed up and will be at Animal Kingdom Lodge Friday and Saturday.

As others have said this is just for fun, after doing Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder this was just something neat to do close to home.

Yeah...this race is just my warmup for the racing season. As I've stated numerous times, this is my wife's first race ever, so it's a good way to get used to how they work. A 5k with obstacles and a scavenger hunt is going to be a good time.

This will be my shortest race of the year...as I'll have done both the Disney half and Wine and Dine Half this year, as well as 2 5 mile races, and the Madison Mini-Marathon, as well as Warrior Dash.

It's good to mix it up and make this stuff exciting...glad Disney found a way to make it entertaining - I'm really looking forward to it!

That was a lot of fun, the second clue slowed us down a little bit until we got better lighting and could see the compass better.

Way more people there than I expected and it was actually tough to move through the course at certain points. We were in wave three so maybe we just got caught in the middle.

Now to gear up for Spartan Race and Tough Mudder!

Definitely had a good time at the race. Happy to finally finish an event closer to front of the pack. A lot of people were just walking for the scavenger hunt and I had to do some bobbing and weaving to get around. I also lost my husband for about two minutes and we lost another few minutes arguing over clue #2. I didn't wear my Garmin so I have no idea how far I ran in the second half. Anyone have a rough estimate?

We walked too....we had a 32 min 5k, with a little more than that for the scavenger hunt. We used the walking time from place to place to try and talk out the clue cards.

It was a great event overall, thought we WAY overthought the clue cards...they were much simpler than we wanted to try and make them.
