My wife and I have been so busy with work and everything else going on that we forgot to keep tabs on WDW Special Offers for our upcoming trip. I checked the WDW site yesterday, and saw two special offers for the time we have booked. I called and both offers (which have a limited number of room allocations) have already been "used up." Ugh. It could have saved us a ton of money. :( We can't let this happen with California Grill!

I'm doing a happy dance today.

I've been calling quite often just to be told no discount offer was available. Today, on a whim, I decided to call again. Much to my surprise, the free dining was available!!!! After the upgrade to deluxe dining and the $50 "penalty" for making a change this close to the reservation date, we're coming out $865 ahead. Woot!! Very happy! :D
Great news & good timing on the call!

What, you mean like booking flights super early, before your trip and then checking the price and realizing it's an INSANE amount less than you paid? I HATE that.

Not to long ago I was checking flights for our trip this feb. they released the prices and I was checking them for a week contiplating what times we should book. One day at 4:45pm I checked it at work and settled on the ones I thought would be best and wrote the info down to discuss with my DW when I got home at 5:15pm. We discussed and settled on the best flight. Cost was $120 per person. I went to bed and woke up from a dead sleep realizing I never booked the flights. I said I'll just wait till the morning. After tossing and turning for a good bit I finally came out and turned on my IPad and when to flight page. The tickets were $250 per person. My jaw hit the floor and my heart sank. I was in shock and close to tears. Standing there in my kitchen ready to smash my iPad I was so furious. Furious at myself for not booking, furious at the airline for raising the price so quick and so high, furious at the cat for starring at my like I was an idiot being up so late, so I smashed the iPad on the floor, kicked the cat, and went back to bed. Ok ok of course I didn't smash the iPad. Are you kidding me those things cost an arm and a leg and I was already going to have to spend an arm and a leg on flights now. So after weeks of waiting for them to go back down which they never did we finally booked an airline I absolutely hate and got the price of $150 per person. Hoping it goes smoothly flying with them. BTW we love flying Jet Blue and hate United Airlines. Oh and I didn't kick the cat. That would just be cruel. But I won't lie when I get angry like that a good ole punt across the back yard with him sure sounds like a good idea. Luckily for him I have never followed through with that disturbing thought since he is so fluffy and I love him so much.

Biggest for me was booking flights and a rental car in LA on points for a DLR trip. I went through everything online quickly, having booked many, many flights on points without ever having a problem. About two seconds after I hit the "confirm booking" button I realized that out of habit, I had selected "MCO". That little blunder cost me about $190 to fix.

DW booked an Adventures By Disney trip to Italy without talking to me about it, I can't get the dates off that she booked it for, and she didn't get insurance, so we are out $800.

Can you try to sell them to someone else via the internet? I bet someone would want the trip - even if you had to discount it...better to lose $200 than $800.....

No it is registered in our name so no, we can use it towards another Adventures by Disney trip, but we only have a year to book it, and we really can't find one that works for us.

What if you booked another of the trips and took out the insurance on that one??? Couldn't that bypass the problem??

Some airlines (I know Southwest does it) let you re-book your flights at the lower price without penalty and give you a credit for the difference. You can apply the credit towards a future booking within a year of the original booking date. We went to disney in November and I was able to lower the price by $66 for each of us - we used the credit towards visiting my cousin in Tampa in June.

RE: the insurance, if you had that what would you do? Get a doctor's note? Or will they accept "it turns out I have to work then?" Just wondering, in case I decided to cancel (I'm not going to, but my wife is giving me a little grief about a couple of things RE the dates. However, she ASKED me to arrange a trip to WDW in October, and I sure as heck wasn't going to book it for Columbus Day week, so it's her fault anyway. :D I just did what I was told.

I believe we would have only lost $100 of it instead.

What I meant was, don't you have to provide a medical reason or some kind of family emergency? Or can you cancel for any reason? (BTW, the trip insurance I bought was what Disney Travel offers with the packages.)
I don't believe you have to provide any kind of proof of reason for cancellation when you get the insurance, I could be wrong, like I said, we didn't get it, they told us if we had, we would have gotten most of our money back.

Ok, thanks. Sorry about your situation, hope it works out for you.
