I figure I would start a thread for those of us have had intersting Evacuations from rides from time to time. The only one I ever had was at Space mountain and to this day I don't know what it was I just know we where seated in the car and then the next moment the lights came on and we where asked to come back later. Little stage but my is space mountain wierd in the light.
I want to hear everyone else evac stories learn a little more about the way CM handle a crisis

twice....

Big thunder mountain.....just as we were going up the second hill......I felt bad.....there was a mentally challenged kid on the train and they were going to call the perimedics...but the mother and father said no and that thgat would freak him out...so the father had to carrry the kid on his sholder through the inside of the mountain......and this was a fairly larger kid too!

RRC....front row.....just as we were about to shoot....it was such a pain...first they mad us wait for 10mins...and then they had to evacuate the rest of the ride before the cars.....we finally got out and they gave us a ticket with a music note stamp on it to come netime we wanted

Test Track - 12/01/01
Our car stalled outside on the last straight away right before the big excellaration boost, the rest of the car thought it was part of the ride until the maintenance guy came out on the track. He walked up to us and was very friendly, he told us our car was the reason the ride was down and he'd get us back running in a moment. Afterwhich he popped the hood, ( I didnt even know the thing had a hood) and flipped a few switches, then went around back where the motor is (I believe) and goofed with something else. the car started really slow, then accelerated about 200 feet before locking up the brakes, and stopping again. after two sequences like this we got stuck on the big banking at the front of the building. Hanging from the top side of the car (well almost) the maintenance guy told us we'll just have to push, which got a nervous laugh out of the rather portly men in the front seat. Finally they put the car in what seemed like an emergency first gear and limped us back home before pulling her off the track and into the maintenace shed. We all got to ride over again in the next availible car. All in all I rather enjoyed it.

Only once -- evacuated from the top of the first lift hill on Big Thunder Mountain (actually got wet because we were right at the crest of the hill where the water drips). We just walked down the stairs and out. It was weird -- all the bats were motionless as we walked out.No fastpass then so we didn't even get any kind of raincheck.

A thunderstorm had apparently been causing trouble all day and knocked out power to that end of the park or something like that -- Splash Mountain was down too and the store in the mountain closed because the lights and registers weren't working.

Spring Break 2001

My mom and I wanted to take a Mother-Daughter trip alone (w/o the baby and the dad...lol) for a few days. On our second day of our fabulous mini-vacation, we went to the MK. Unfortunately, there was a really bad storm, and we had to walk aroud the park all day with our yellow MM ponchos on (yay, oh how fun...). After lunch, we headed over to Tomorrowland. We got in line for CoP, and the wierd thing was was that we were in line for like 20 minutes and they hadn't let usd in the theatre yet... We asked a CM what the deal was and he said that lightning had hit the major power area for the MK and all attractions in Tomorrowland and most of the rides in Fantasyland broke down and were not working.

Technically, we didn't get evacuated, but we had to watch all the ed off people exit the TTA and Space Mountain...

Other than that, we never really got evacuated from an attarction in all the times I've been there...

I've been evacuated twice in 8 trips. Last time was March 2001 at ToT. We were in the elevator car and had just made it up to the very top of the shaft. When you get to the top, the doors open, and you see the starfield simulation and all the other stuff. Well, one of our doors didn't open. Everything was still running normal (other than one of our doors being stuck) until it was time for the car to move forward to the drop area. That's when everything stopped. We sat there for several minutes before the lights turned on and a maintenance guy came and 'rescued' us. We got to go down the employee elevator and get back in the front of the line on one of the other shafts.

The first time it wasn't a ride evacuation, but a resort evacuation. We were camping in FW and hurricane Erin was bearing down on Orlando. Expecting heavy winds and rain Disney evacuated the campgrounds. We had to get all of our stuff packed and out of the campground in a hurry. Then Disney took us to the GF and gave everyone pillows, sheets and blankets and let us sleep in the ballroom that night (some people went to the Poly and some to Contemp). They also had all the food you could eat and several televisions set up so we could watch the news and stuff. They let out about 9 the next morning and the parks opened around 11ish. We couldn't get back in the campground till after 5 because there were trees down across the roads and they had to be cleared. Disney even refunded a night of our stay! One of the neatest things I saw was at the GF there was a pretty sizeable tree that had been blown over as the hurricane passed. Before the rain had even stopped Disney had a new tree (pretty much an exact repleca) and a backhoe on site removing the downed tree and putting the 'new' tree in place. This was completed before most of the resort was awake.

Nope -- ours was way before your trip. I think it was February of '93. I was in high school so definitely '91-'94.

I was evacuated out of the American Adventure.

We were watching the show, and Will Rogers refused to twirl his lasso or stand up straight. So they killed the show. That'll show him, he can't be a prima-donna.

We were rescued from our 12th row seats, by a Cast member with a flash light. (jk)

one time I was on ToT. and it should have been an evacuation. I was with two friends of mine, and a car (elevator) full of people from a big group. they had never been on the ride, except for one mother in front of me. we got to the part where we go into the shaft of the drop, but nothing happened. Of course, the mom, my self, and my friends knew what was going on, that this was not supposed to happen. So we 4 calmed everyone else down and said "oh, those crazy ToT workers, always trying to scare us more..." the calming worked, but we were still really freaked out. Turns out, something happened and there was an elevator already in that shaft, we had to wait until that ride was over. we were still right before the doors, which was a nice feeling once we got moving. everyone thought we were all ready in the shaft!

I have been to WDW over 100 times and have never been evacuated, but (theres always a but) my wife and I were on the TTA one evening and while traveling through SM the lights were on and they were evacuating the riders. They were also saying something over the pa system, never could quit understand what they were say though it was to garbled. Maybe evacuation instructions ?

I forgot another time (so I guess this makes 3). We were in Epcot and one of the 15 minute summer downpours was brewing. We decided to go into the Living Seas and wait it out. We were about half way through the film in the theatre and **poof** the film quit and the room went completely dark. Surprisingly there were no emergency lights in the theatre, so we were all standing in this pitch black room. Apparently the cast members either forgot about us or were having trouble opening the doors cause we were in there a good 5 minutes in total darkness! No PA announcements or anything. The smokers in the crowd were 'flicking their bics' to give us some light. We just assumed the projector broke. It wasn't until we were saved by a valiant cast member that we were told it was a lightning strike.

i was also at disney during Hurricane Erin. However, my family was staying at the Disney Village Resort which is now the DIsney Institute Villas. They let us stay there, but it did get pretty scary with the wind howling and the rain hitting the back windows on the patio. However, the VERY light park crowds made up for the rocky night. I'm telling you the best time to go to disney is the day after a hurricane. have fun trying to forecast that!
