"Escape from Tomorrow" guerilla film shot inside WDW

I thought the film tech talk was pretty great in the other thread.

Lots of discussions about the logistics of taking on such a project.

I really was getting into it. Shame that such innovative discussions cannot take place.

Heck, shots in the Avengers were shot on Joss's iPhone for crying out loud.

I think it is an amazing achievment.

His sarcasm implies that the people who were disgusted by it were somehow overreacting. Not something I'd joke about, personally.
Honestly, from the short trailer that I saw, it's pretty vague and it's out of context anyway, so I can't tell if the guy is ogling or thinking about his own daughters or if those girls are his daughters.

I certainly cannot condone nor condemn a movie from that trailer alone.

They aren't his daughters and he's apparently ogling them throughout the film.

There is an upsetting thread running through the film about two teenage girls who he notices early in the day. Jim can't stop looking at them, and as his very strange day wears on, he keeps running into the girls, keeps following them. He practically pants after them. Danielle Safady, one of the girls, really is a young teen, and she looks it. Her friend, played by the gorgeous Annet Mahendru, also looks young, but is evidently in her early 20s. Doesn't change the way Moore makes you feel complicit in Jim's transgressions, constantly ogling the girls, making it uncomfortable from the very start.

As witnessed here, as well as in the reviews, it's obviously a controversial film. With all that's been said it about it already, I'll be surprised if Disney doesn't try to stop this from getting out in the public.

This is a interesting topic, I am very interested in how they pulled this off. A crew of actors and a small film crew however small seems noticable. Plus just the sheer wierdness of this project has me intrigued. But i don't think it is something Disney would like out there damaging their brand and I don't blame them.

I'd imagine that the crew consisted of the cameraman. Audio was more than likely done in looping sessions. Lighting was done by the natural Florida sunshine.

Lighting and audio people would have been a dead giveaway that something "out of the ordinary" was going on at the time.

Yes, they were overreacting and I'm sure the filmmakers are loving the reaction. It's a 1-minute clip totally out of context with hardly anything occurring. I think it's fascinating that this particular clip was chosen since we know so little about the film. This is a key point. He may not even be ogling, it could simply be the cinematography and people's perceptions of what's happening. Either way, it's amusement, it's entertaining and it's sure getting a reaction.

Concerning the ogling of the young girls thing. I thought that was supposed to be creepy and unsettling.

Hey, stop being reasonable.

Aha I didn't realize there was another thread that got canned. I did a search and was surprised it hadn't already been brought up! But yes, let's be reasonable -- I think this is a really interesting topic and idea, and if it's not your bag no one's making you reply in this thread. :)

Y'all do need to be careful to separate art from reality though. A despicable act portrayed in a film does not mean the actors or filmmakers endorse that act. (I'd think a room full of Disney geeks would understand the distinction, but hey...) I'm not much of a media scholar but the legal issues presented here are interesting, as well. Of course WDW is *technically* private property but it's also quasi-public too, no? I mean no one would go into public areas of the parks with any expectation of privacy. I could see some loopholes as such giving this film the OK, even if it sounds like the filmmaker didn't give much thought to the legal ramifications while filming it.

I read thru some of the original thread, and was actually in thru it when the mods deleted it. A few people got into a big dispute over the legality of the filming of the movie and whether or not Disney would actually be able to execute legal action against the producer and have it blocked. The conversation turned ugly and to personal insults against a few different posters, and was completely out of control.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure Disney will try and block this somehow. Not sure how successful they will be, but I'm sure they're not too thrilled about the use of the parks and images in such a way.

It's late, so I'm too lazy to find links, but I've already seen a couple articles where the director was interviewed. He's been pretty open about the whole process now that the film is done, seems genuinely surprised he actually managed to pull it off.

Alright, one link, just because it's an interesting site run by a good group of guys, has a lot more links out, as well as the clip being discussed...

I'd really like to see this. If anything to try and figure out where everything was shot.
Evidently there's a lengthy scene filmed inside the Buzz queue and on the ride itself. I read some speculation that cast members thought that fans were filming some videos for their YouTube channels. I find this terribly interesting as an evolutionary component of the life styler/ social media projects. If anything, you'd think park ops will be highly sensitive to this type of activity for the next few months.

Thanks for the link! Very good read, helps shed a bit of light into how this film was made. Now I need to learn more about the content of the film.

All the more reasons not to bring piles and piles of camera gear into the parks.

But in all honesty, the filmmakers could have shot the whole thing on their iphones..... and we wont even get into the costumed people I saw walking around tonight. Point being if Park Ops won't/can't even stop that, they're not going to be interested in shutting down what looks like someone photographing for their personal use or home movies.
