um:eek:
my first hurricane
what should i do??

we got hit by Gloria in the 80's but i was so young. I think the thing that I'm really worried about is having to go to work and having to drive in it...
1. grab a flashlight.
2. take lots of pictures.
3. have a party.
4. go to work the next day.

And the latest advisory (11:00 a.m. Sunday) pushes it even a little further to the east. There's a ridge in the west that will control where Ernesto goes. The more it stays over Cuba, the better it is for Florida.

The latest forcast has it over Cuba about 48 hrs. That could really take it down. With the COC moving around so much, I think that makes figuring out the track a little harder.

Also, bake some brownies and buy some chips and dip. That's what I always do.
Just have the food ready in advance. Because when the power goes out, ugh. Let's not even get into how humid and hot it is when you have no a/c and there's a hurricane passing by outside.

Another Tampa resident mad at the new projected path,

make sure you have a full tank of gas just to be sure. Gas won't pump without electricity.

And don't wait until the last min. to go fill your tank either. I'd try and keep it as full as possible beginning today or tomorrow. People will go nuts and there will be long lines, if/when this thing gets closer.

I think RECON is having trouble finding the center (they are out there right now). Someone said that it looks to be reforming to the west, so NM.

hurricanes

oh, no it all sounds verry creepy.
Although I think when you are staying at the Disney world resort they will help you with al what`s possible.
But that doesn`t help me now. We are going to Disney world september 29th until oct. 16th. I know you never can tell when a hurricane will come to florida, but how BIGGG is the chance that there will be one then?
I will be freeking out when my vacation will be ruined by a hurricane.
All the way from europe to met a hurricane??!!

We are in "peak" season, though it's been a quiet season so far.
If you happen to be in WDW when a cane comes up, you'll be in the best place to be during one. WDW show's movies (if you are staying on property) and they have the parks back open as quickly as possible after the storm rolls though. The don't stay closed long at all.

I hope it doesn't hit Port Charlotte, Fla. because my family lives there and they were hit really hard by Hurricane Charlie and another one(?). Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that this thing just falls apart!

Don't like that last forcast turn.
Guess I'll quit my house fix-up chores for a few days just in case I'm wasting
my time.:brick:
Can't keep all the names straight but when the one cat3 was heading right over us I decided to make the drive from Tampa area over to Disney.Had 2 elderly relatives along so didn't think we should ride it out here.
Long story short didn't have radio on for the trip and in just 3hr time forcast changed and storm heads for Orlando,go fiqure.
Disney nice enough to refund money and we headed back to find no rain or wind at all at our house.
Never know for sure where they're going I guess.
No wish for anyone else to have trouble but I hope something similar will happen.
