Not only was Epic Mickey confirmed several weeks ago, but it was also recently revealed that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is the be Mickey's enemy in the game. The game features Mickey going through a land being assaulted by forgotten cartoons. The article also went on to state that:

"The Epic Mickey project was apparently of such importance, though, that Disney CEO Bob Iger made a deal with NBC Universal and "traded Al Michaels, a human sportscaster, for the rights to a cartoon rabbit."

I am guessing this is probably the start of the Oswald use. I am also going to guess that it ends with Mickey helping Oswald become a "good guy" by being remembered.

Makes sense to me, it's a game where forgotten cartoons seek revenge upon mickey, I can't think of a better leader of that revolution than Oswald.

How many people know Oswald even exists

It vaguely reminds me of the Tiny Toons episode where there's a creepy vault keeper at Acme Looniversity that turns out to be Bosko from the oooooooldest of old WB cartoons. I'm sure Oswald will get a happy ending out of it.

This was posted by a Micechat user who claims to have read the Game Informer article:

The story centers around a world created by the sorcerer Yensid in which the old and forgotten attractions / characters in the Disney library go to when they are no longer needed. Accidentally however, the world is invaded by the Phantom Blot and what was intended to be a beautiful restful place became a warped version of the Magic Kingdom.

It's here that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit had been since it's creation, he was the first inhabitant. As the article quotes Warren Spector, "Walt Disney created Mickey to replace Oswald." And so the story goes, two brothers, one with the success and fame, the other forgotten by their "father."

In the game you control Mickey who wields a paint brush, and you must travel thru the now warped kingdom and in the process you decide to be endlessly helpful to the inhabitants or focused on your own agenda (as the article describes, you as Mickey can be "the Scrapper" or "the Hero"). Depending on your decisions the world will reflect your actions and so Mickey will become more or less colorful depending on your chosen path.

The more I read, the cooler this game sounds. Of course, to be technical, Oswald wasn't so much forgotten by Walt as taken from him.

Anyone see the potential for a certain Epcot song to show up with this storyline? :lookaroun

Yeah, that's probably not likely, but this game seems to be inspiring a full-on geekgasm of speculation on who/what could show up, so why not?

A warped version of the MK?

I swear...Jungle Cruise better be in this game.
It's hard to know what to expect. All the information about the story says it will focus on "forgotten" characters and attractions, but then we have concept art with very much unforgotten attractions like HM/ToT/SSE/iasw/etc.

It is indeed sounding very promising. I just hope they go on with their plan to branch out from being a wii exclusive. Can't stand playing that thing.:hurl:
