Epic Evacuations

My daughter and I got stuck at the top of Space Mountain. Apparently someone didn't heed the warning and rode with their hat on, which flew off and hit one of the sensors.

We literally just got out of the tunnel, dropped about a foot and then stopped on the switchback. It seemed like seconds had passed and on came all the lights. I wish that I had our good camera with, but all I got were some bad shots from my cell phone. I thought it was cool and didn't mind the time spent up there. My legs and hips minded being stuck in the car though. It was really cramped having to just sit there. I would say it took them about 10 minutes to finally get up there and walk us down. So I got to walk Space Mountain for a bit and took the elevator down. We got a fastpass to any ride in MK that day our troubles. When we went back later that night to use it, the ride didn't seem as cool as it had before seeing it all lit up, though.

My wife and I got to walk from the top most hill of SM. A brake system stopped us right before we started winding down the hill. We sat in the cars for about 5 minutes then they kicked the lights on. After about another 5 minutes or so a CM came up and released us and we followed them down to the exit. They handed us Non expiring fast passes. I recorded the whole thing with my iphone, however I failed to sync it with my computer and lost everything when my phone locked up a few days later and I had to do a full restore. :brick:

^These two are really neat!

For tizzo, what was it like walking down? did u notice more details etc.?

Unfortunately there wasn't much to see in that part of the attraction, at least not then. To tell you the truth, once the lights came on the one thing I noticed the most was how dusty everything looked. Not that it was that dirty, but with every surface being painted black, it really shows dust. There is a staircase along the slope of the descent (on the left side if you are sitting in the vehicle facing up). I believe it was carpeted with a dark gray carpeting of the grade you'd see in an office building. It's really pretty narrow on that side of the ride, there was a lot more room on the other side of the track, where the triangles used to be. (I actually haven't ridden since then, but I understand they've put something else there).

My family and I were on SM, and during the middle of the ride, all the lights came on. We rode 1/2 of the ride in dark, and the other in full light.....

Never had to do a full evac....

Although this weekend (May 6 -9) we were on the monorails when they had trouble.
We go stuck over the parking lot just before the TTA, coming from EPCOT.
The driver sang 4-5 Disney songs to us, while we waited for clearance....

Awww that is terriable. It would have been neat to see it with the lights on.

One trip it seemed like we got stuck on everything, but we only had to evacuate on the great movie ride, which wasn't very exciting. I think it was during the Casablanca scene, and we just walked to the exit. Last trip we laughed because one of the announcements on the tta is that it never stops but everytime we rode it it stopped multiple times

I got stuck on Soarin for a good amount of time. The ride started and as we were barley a foot in the air the ride stopped. I had to sit like that for the whole time for about an hour and it was hell. On top of that the entrance music was playing and let me tell you... that music for 5 minutes is good but after an hour it will make you sick.

I've only done two evacs - both on SSE. The first one was NYE 2007. I got on the ride with plenty of time to spare before the fireworks, but it broke down halfway through the descent and they didn't evac until after midnight. :hammer: That one just took me down the descent stairs so it wasn't anything special. The second time was much better, in September '08 - ride stopped by the cinema scene. We got to walk down to just past the merchant boat scene, and around the corner there is the emergency stairwell. It was super cool to walk past all the AA scenes. :king:

I don't know whether to be jealous or consider myself lucky when readying these posts...I've never had an evac! On one hand it would be cool to walk through some backstage areas or be up close with the AA's...but I'm also glad that I've never wasted an hour or so sitting on a ride. I guess we'll see if my luck runs out TOMORROW when I head for the world!!!

Many Evacs

Last time I was in the World, it took three different attempts on three different days for me to successfully complete the TTA. The first time was in the middle of the ride and after awhile we were evaced through backstage, it was neat. The second time we were mere yards from the end but were not allowed out of our cars. But that wasn't the funniest part, while waiting we noticed a bunch of folks at the beginning of the ride laughing and pointing at the security monitors that show the CMs what is going on deep in the ride in the darker areas. Apparently a couple thought that since it was dark, no one could see them and began to make out. The started to get hot and heavy and some cast members broke off into a run to stop them.

Two years ago while in Disneyland I had terrible luck once again. I was on Mr. Toads and it broke down in hell and had to be walked off (this was the year after the TTA incidents) and I figured I was cursed. The next day while waiting for Alice(?) the ride was getting close to backing up and needing to be reset I was talking with the CM about how I got stuck on Toad's the day before, he had been working and heard about the breakdown. Lo and behold, I get on, and Alice breaks down for a bit, but I finally get to ride. The next and final day I am in the line for the Storybook Land boats and see the Alice CM now working the boats. I tell him that these better not sink on my, because with my luck I thought about bringing a life jacket. He laughs and assures me of success. Thankfully I stayed dry.

Moral, if you see me in line. Choose a different ride.

It wasn't an evac, but I got to ride HM from Leota's room to the end with the lights on, and sound off. It was pretty cool :)

That is super neat! Did you notice any extra cool details that normally can't be seen that were noteworthy?

I am starting to wonder if I have bad luck, or good luck myself, because I have gotten stuck a few times and it isn't like I even live in FL to be there all the time! :)

Also not an evac, but one night while watching Wishes the sound just cut out. Shells continued to go off for a few seconds after that before they stopped the whole thing. After about a five minute break, the sound started back in from a point a few seconds before it stopped, and when it the sound caught up to where the fireworks had stopped, the pyro continued as well, in perfect synchronization right through the end.

Not as cool as HM with the lights on would have been :). But if you're geeky enough to think about how things like that work, it was pretty neat. Though it would have been considerably less neat if I was seeing Wishes for the first time.

A couple of years ago we got stuck just after a short drop in TOT. The car dropped about half way down and then stopped with the lights off for about a minute. This is the one ride that really freaks me out a bit - I only go along because my family likes it. Being stopped like that and wondering when you're gonna drop again was a bit stressful. After a while, the lights came on, an annoucement was made, and then we waited about 15 minutes, wondering how in the world they could evacuate us from there. The odd thing was that inside the shaft, there are little shelf-like areas that had props on them. As I recall, they weren't scary type props, but cheerful things, perhaps to soothe the nerves of anyone who got stuck there and got to see them ? When it started up again, we went all the way back to the top and started the drop sequence again, with all the lights on. Luckily it worked okay that time.

must be a theme with this ride, i too was stranded on pirates right before we went down the hill. we had the camera rolling but they made us "shut it off" before we could go backstage. we ended up going trough some kind of control room then out the back and around. pretty cool to see :D

Big Thunder Mountain, going up through the bat cave. Train stopped, but the rocks were still coming in around us :ROFLOL: then after a few minutes the lights came on and there was an announcement to stay seated. Then a little while later CM's came by and released the bars and we were escorted inside the mountain and saw all the underworkings (obviously not glamorous) It was definitely something we'll never forget. The friends we were with got some cool pics. . .
I can't remember specifically but I think we did get fastpasses as we exited.

During our 2009 trip, we were evacuated from Pirates of the Caribbean after sitting in the boat for a good 20-30 minutes at the part where the pirates are chanting "We wants the redhead". They walked us out some back doors and down a long road back to the front of the attraction area. All we really saw were smelly garbage bins and were only given one fast pass for a ride of our choice for that day. Was it worth it...definitely NOT!!! :brick:

OOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGG was that in summer 2009 cuz if it was we were stuck together because i got stuck tooooooo!!!!! cool to find someone on here who experianced it too with me wasnt it torture to here the song sooo many times
