News EPCOT's Harmonious to be replaced with new nighttime spectacular Luminous

It happens to be the one show that when it's over just seeing it at the entrance of international gateway or even nearby Riveria even you can see the smoke air the atmosphere. Can't imagine how or if it's healthy in the park.
That’s all Epcot fireworks. Depending on wind direction, someone gets smoked out. This very site started out like 25 years ago with a feature that predicted where you should avoid during IllumiNations if you don’t want to get smoked out.

Watched it again this morning with Fresh Eyes(I think) and still think it's a better show than Harm. My only new complaint is not really tied to Luminous itself but It would be nice of Epcot ended a show with all the Countries' Lighting and kept them on for a while!

The Countries Look Stunning in every Show! I don't get why Epcot won't use that Lighting more when WSL is quiet!
Epcot Forever did that!

Looking back at the first few pages of this thread... it's amazing how many people thought the eyesores would stick around for the new show. And a few of those were really bad takes. 😬

I think if the eyesoars were able to move in and out of the lagoon as was originally planned or theory would it wouldn't change because it would have to arrive at some time, whether 3pm, 4pm, 6pm people would still say it abstruct the views of the countries I think the primary reason was that but importantly was not able to see the show from the sides and definitely restaurant interest declining majorly!

It's always funny to look back at old pages in threads like these just to see what everyone thought back then compared to what actually happened. Going through all of the Harmonious speculation from 2019-2021 is always a fun read

Some here might like this stuff.
Friends, family, and myself were invited to be guests at the Canada dock for a showing of Luminous recently.

The videos are poor since someone else was recording with a real camera so I wasn't too concerned about the quality of mine.

I have more pictures but don't want to burn the page of this thread.

Goes without saying, many thanks to some specific departments (you know who you are) and a friend for making this happen!

Luminous is beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised the first time I saw it, as the one questionable section (loss) hit me differently in person than on a video. In person, I read it more as being about universal loss and not just “grandma is dead.” The segment could be as much about a bad breakup as it is about death. Definitely less macabre than I was initially expecting from videos and commentary online.

It’s surprisingly mature and about as Epcot-y as this company will do.

The only reason to dislike the show if somebody just can't stand IP. I've also heard some that thinks it's boring (paging my pal @TheMaxRebo)

Doesn't matter where you stand at WS lagoon, all views are good. The show doesn't rely on projections. The pyro is next level (at least for anything that I've seen especially at the end). I was worried that the show wouldn't be as colorful as Harmonious and I'm glad I'm wrong.

The starting theme and ending theme is very RoE-ish.

Would like to see the soundtrack tweaked a tad? Sure. Would I like to see a fire barge return? Yep.

But it's my favorite show at WDW right now. (As much as I love HEA, the chaos before and after knocks the experience down a tad for me).

Yup. The last 6 minutes are very good but found the first 12 to to be quite boring and didn't enjoy the musical selections. I don't really like the first original song (but really like the 2nd)

Seen it twice in person. My kids felt similar in that they thought it was ok, but not a "must do"

Would rank the Epcot shows I have seen as:
1. Illuminations: RoE
2. Harmonious
3. Epcot Forever
4. Luminous

I finally got to see it in person last week and I really enjoyed it. I was not a fan of Harmonious it just tried to do to much. I find Luminous a much better successor to Illuminations. I got to see it from the Terrace des Fleurs which was a great spot!

I watched Harmonious once from close by that spot. We lucked out and were asked to join in on free fireworks cruise (because the party that booked it backed out at the last moment).

The side view of the ring sucked and ruined the show except for the front and back of WS. I couldn't believe whatever price they were charging for the cruise for such a bad view (which was the shows fault, not where the boats docked). I only saw Harmonious that one time and decided it wasn't worth my time if I need the absolute perfect spot to get the full experience. Oh and how a upcharge failed to even be a good enough spot for it.

Unless they can make a globe with a large, good quality screen that can be seen from everywhere and not be a eyesore during the day, just sticking with pyro, fountains, and lights is plenty when it's done the way Luminous is done.

I'm still not the biggest fan of the soundtrack but the show is great looking at all moments during it. The Frozen and Tangeled songs are used really well. I think I still want to see "Friend in me" changed before anything else. Just so tired of that song.

Interestingly (and pure anecdotal evidence here), the IP-liking crowd is the one I hear the most negativity from. But, they way they basically want everything to be an upbeat party. "I don't come to Disney to feel negative emotions - just to escape and be happy." But, that misses the whole point of the show IMHO.

I'm admittedly against most of the IP adds of late, but I really enjoy Luminous. I think it is quite moving, creative and thoughtful. And, the fact it's different makes it all that much better. (As other friends have said as well - a mix of IP-loving and IP-disliking folks.) Luminous is not ROE at all, but it's a solid second place and feels Epoct still. It's probably the only reason I renewed my pass this year.
