Now here's an actual incident where the stargate arms actually pointed and shot pyro directly at the taco barges.

Talk about "friendly fire" huh

The fired started well after the postshow, when the tech crews go out to the barges and start pulling them in. Something may have happened during this process, like releasing any unfired shells and whatnot.

Also, the theater roof fire was caused by the single comet that launches from that roof. Has been happening for years, it just went wrong that night. I hope it eventually returns since currently they're using an alternative comet from one of the mobile pyro barges for that "Let it come....someday" line in the finale.
The discharging of shells would not have caused that, since the system only loads what it needs. The barges also have the cages to prevent stray fireworks from landing on them.

What usually happens is the shells burst at a low altitude, and leave behind cardboard debris when they blow. This is one of these pieces:

The only reasonable explanation for last night is that burning embers from an unusually low firework or high wind blew down onto the existing cardboard debris on the barges. This explains the slow burn, into the postshow. It takes a moment for them to get going. This has happened multiple times in other parks as well.

Also yes, that comet is what I was referring to. Its an angular mortar that has to go above infrastructure. That isn't the first time it's bounced off of hardware. It happed a couple times during I:ROE if my memory serves me correctly.

This. The issue with Harmonious and fires seems to be how much infrastructure is on the lagoon, and the angles at which they fire pyro.

From what I could tell in person, fallout from one of the angular fireworks shot off a Taco is what set the barge on fire. In EF, large shells were shot skyward. Harmonious uses it's tentacles to fire in all directions, with substantially sized pyro, at a much lower altitude (ex: the "whole wide world will hear it" fireworks canopy during "Someday"). These angled fireworks already caused the death of the poor railing at America Gardens.

The show is not only costly to maintain, it's heavily damaging existing infrastructure. My tinfoil hat is definitely on for a premature return of EPCOT Forever, but then again it has been since June.
Exactly. RoE didn't really have this issue because of the design of the overall fireworks plan. - same with EF and the various fireworks shows before RoE, including the other Illuminations shows. That, plus how the new barges are designed, makes it far more likely we'll see infrastructure damage that wasn't accounted for. I don't know if this will cause a return sooner, but I think it ought to be a factor in entertainment's minds...

It's also worth mentioning now after the show; they ran none of the large shells. The lack thereof was definitely felt. The only shells they used were the sparklers, the sprays, comets and the small shell bursts. The show felt extremely empty.

A new guest activation was announced today that will allow guests, for the first time in Walt Disney World history, to truly become the Magic. After a quick trip to Walmart to purchase clearance Fourth of July fireworks to launch during Harmonious, guests will be invited to set them off at key moments during the show. Listen closely and set them off when the vocalists are singing in the language spoken in the World Showcase pavilion you are in front of!

As part of this exciting update, Imagineer The Zach announced today that, during its farewell season, the show will be renamed HarmonioUs since ”we literally can’t do it without guests!”

Stay tuned to hear about an exciting new opportunity to portray a favorite character in Fantasmic! later this year (and we definitely don’t need you to do this due to a cast shortage. Everything is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in that respect!).

Stay tuned!

Only one caged pyro barge tonight, so half of the usual big shells.

It's really noticeable and lacking, especially in the last two segments and finale. Those 2 by 1 patterns become so bare.

Yeesh at least it's better than last night. The cage barge that belongs on the East side is torched pretty badly.

I really don't forsee the East Cage returning, as this situation only cements EPCOT Forever's return even more. Based on precedent, I'd forsee them setting up EF with a cage barge in the center, and the pyro pads in a ring around it. Then the 100 show may feature a new piece of infrastructure to replace it. It really doesn't seem likely that they'd spend the money to repair it for usage in a temporary show that doesn't *really* need it to survive.

Unless I'm switching things up, I think they will repair it because I'm pretty sure they primarily use the dual caged barges for special tags for 4th of July and New Years.

But if they won't repair it, they can probably change things up, reprogram, etc. like what you're saying with one central caged barge. Would be sad though that Harmonius will "sunset" without its complete package.

It's also probably screwing with their budgets now because of these two separate incidents the past two months now that they had to fork money over and quickly "fix". I think the theater roof hasn't even been completely repaired yet, unless they're actually going to restore that pyro launch point with new fire hazard stuff, which would be fantastic.

If the current show / attraction is allowed to malfunction, deteriorate and self-destruct the guests will appreciate the new show / attraction more. Since it's on the way out spend the repair / maintenance funds on development, construction and fielding of the next attraction. The bean counters may have something.

This is probably what I'm most upset about honestly. I think every show deserves to look its best on its very last showing (even shows people didn't like). Like for example I don't like Enchantment but I want it to look its absolute best on its final bow.

Meanwhile, Harm is youthful as it burns the world down one rogue firework shell at a time:

Any chance the new show will see barges similar to Tokyo's new show or will it just be drone & pyro barges with one main fountain & media barge?
