Yes, some people do see it as a natural comparison -- that's the point! If you look at SSE as something similar to a stadium, than yeah a big "Epcot" sign over it may make sense. Some people see it as a work of art, similar to the Tree of Life or Cindy's Castle. I understand where the pro-wand folks are coming from, I don't understand why you don't see my point of view though? I think you're sort of the pot calling the kettle black in your first couple sentences there. You think I'm illogical because I can draw a comparison between the Castle and SSE?
Here's a great Epcot blog you may want to take a look at . . .

Ok, everyone else here seem to make sense to me now, apart from you.
If you read (and understood) my messages, you'd hopefully see that your little pot theory about me doesn't hold water.
I do NOT think everyone else is stupid and wrong. I think (as I've already written) this discussion is all about OPINIONS (i.e. there IS no right and wrong.) And I'd like you to tell me when I've ever made illogical comparisons.
Can't believe I have to explain this, as in my mind it's very obvious why a hand next to the castle wouldn't make sense, whereas a hand next to spaceship earth might. A big hand next to the castle would be completely out of proportion and make no sense, as the castle is an actual real life size castle. Besides, the castle is already colorful, Disney-ish and fun and wouldn't necessarily need it. I think Spaceship Earth did, and clearly, so did Disney.
Spaceship Earth is a symbolic structure and would make as much sense at whatever size. And seems like Disney wanted to add some colorful Disney magic fun to it. (I.e. they chose to add "Epcot" instead of "2000" rather than taking the hand/wand down) And that choice seems to define the whole park and not just the sphere. It ties in with the direction they seem to be going with the entire park. I think it adds to it and makes it more what Disney is about, others don't.
Even if you don't, I understand why Disney put the hand/wand on the sphere, and not on the castle. It seems very obvious to me.
This, I think, is not just a wand-or-not discussion, but a discussion about what we would like Epcot to be.
I too, see Spaceship Earth as a piece of art, and a landmark. But just as this whole discussion is, what art is, is also a matter of opinion and different taste. I should hopefully know, being an artist
I do, of course, (as you would've known if you read my posts) understand the "against wand" people's point. I just happen to disagree.
Have great and magical day with or without wand
