I did notice that even though the doors stayed open the sound effect for them opening still played.

That is a very fair point. I don't know what the doors are made out of but I would imagine they are designed to break away in case of a truly catastrophic failure ... but even foam and balsa wood could be damaging in the wrong situation. I would guess that the doors are designed to always “fail” in the open position so if the program or mechanism doesn’t get a 100% all clear response in exactly 100% correct order it just stays open.
