Epcot suffering

Whats going on at epcot is davistating. they got rid of so many beautiful classics and great masterpieces like Horizons,Wonders of life, Dreamfinder, They destroyed the Living Seas and to finish it all off they destroyed Spaceship Earth. It tenders me up to see what they have done to epcot. The imagineers replaced all the attractions with not cheap but lazy creativity. They dont put their all into it like they used to. My main problums are that there scaling down to mutch. There cheapening things and it looks and feels like the Imagineers dont put their all in like they used to and if t6hey did put their all in along with the new stuff epcot would be better than ever. thay havent extended sonce the 80s. Instead they tore down one of the most loved rides.

Spaceship Earth: Went on a massive rehab Gutted the ending which was a total masterpiece with the sets and the music. 2007 it opended up left with 3 new sets that werent that great and a boaring tunnel with a screen with horribul cartoons. Keep the screens but why take away the beautiful sets and out up bllack walls. Make new sets and keep the old music. The mew music sounds comercial.

Imagination: Gte rid ov a well loved ride and replace it with a ride that is just cheap and boaring but does the job.

The Living Seas; I remember going to the Living Seas and seeing the aquariums and a ride that focuses on the environment. Last time I went there was a big statue of Nemo the tanks were gon at least the glass and made it more walking space. I remember looking for the mamoties and finding that space. The last time I went there I looked at the ride and I could picture the smell of a daycare and didnt even bother.

Wonders of life: They better be putting horizns in that spot but I bet if they do it will probaly be cheap but i will check it out anyway.

Horizons: they could of kept it waited tor wonders of life to pull out and made a huge space center paint white make the bubble a giant planitarium make a star battle call room and put mishion space in the building.

EPCOT: Cheap and is getting run down.they took away all the unique art. Tings are getting rined down. The flowerbeds are getting sloppy and it is becoming a mess. I am glad they finally are fixing he fountain I love the fountain but besides the fountain I am almost ready to kiss epcot goodby. Nothing beats the vintage epcot. It was an adult park but thats no longer now it is just like any other 6 flags. I am not opposed to change I just think the imagineers need to get it together and put their all into the attractions instead of just throwing them together. They need to replace great work with something just as good or better. If they put in their all like they did on the replaced attractions they would be just as good or even better.

We all miss old EPCOT Center, but here's the thing. We know us Disney nuts and EPCOT purists would love to have old EPCOT '82 back. Actually more like EPCOT '85, but do you think that today's tourists would want to spend time there as the other Disney parks progress and evolve? The answer is a big NO. The parks are just like any other business. To remain a part of ever changing business world, and to stay at least level with your competition, you have to give the place a fresh coat of paint from time to time. Otherwise you lose money, and losing money equals your eventual demise.

We ALL miss Horizons. Let's say it all together! Guess what? It's not coming back! You can buy scrap from the ride on mousesurplus.com already. We can all dream when we sleep of happier times where there was never a wand on Spaceship Earth, and Walter Kronkite told us about to evolution of communication before sending us away humming "Tomorrow's Child". Where we could visit Seabase Alpha before taking that glorious Journey WITH Dreamfinder and Figment. Us purists hate to see our favorite attractions go away, but it's just the way it works. It's not just in EPCOT, excuse me...Epcot. I remember every trip to WDW as a child because of two rides. "20,000 Leagues" and "Mr. Toad". When I was 12 I was heartbroken to see them both gone, but I got over it. I still get choked up when I see the old lagoon drained and filled with dirt and going useless. Another example is "Tarzan Rocks". "Tarzan Rocks" had a love/hate relationship with most guests, but guess what? When the two guys who wrote "Avenue Q", a very successful Broadway musical, were commissioned to write a musical for "Finding Nemo" something had to go and that was "Tarzan Rocks." I think a vast majority of people here would agree with me that "Nemo" is much better than "Tarzan".

My point is that just like any store, or any other business, the Disney Parks have to progress. The removal of things past their prime in order to make room for the new, improved, state of the art things that attracts people, and keeps them coming back. Tourists come from all over the world to Disney to ride new things like "Soarin" and "Toy Story Mania". The same reason we Americans go to Tokyo DisneySea to ride "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and Disneyland Paris to ride a totally new "Space Mountain" unlike anything we've ever experienced. I admire your opinion and don't think that I am telling you are wrong, but changes are not always bad and most times have a reason. Walt Disney once said that "Disneyland would never be complete as long as there was imagination left in the world". I think that goes for all the Disney Parks, not just the original.

It only ends once. Everything until then is just progress.

I am the one who has been punk'd My friends uses this name. I just saw this discussion for the first time and I am mortified. And not everything new in epcot is extremely horrible but look at magic kingdom they have so many classics left and untouched why cant epcot keep the classics but of course they need to update because technology gets updated. He is right If you're going to demolish a masterpiece replace it with a better one. He stole my words from what I said last year going down spaceship earth. That goes for horizons and Dream finder. I do like Mission space but the line isn't worth it and they shouldn't eliminate Horizons for that. Yo steve you are so dead??????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::And the spell check isn't broken its called Edit, Spelling and Grammar and last but not least Show Spelling And Grammar. If there is any more threads I should know about email me at mikeimac8@aol.com I haven't posted any threads since 2008 but I am impressed he made one that made it past 2 pages. Sorry about the spelling.
One more thing Does anyone know what ever happened to the flamingos on the left side of the Mexico Pavilion.

You ask for forgiveness but insult Steve? I don't get it.

No dout there needs to be change. I am more disapointed in the imagineers because they dont make the rides a matserpiece like they used to. They seem to have scaled down on everything. Mission Space is good but I wouldnt wait on a line to go in a simulator and spaceship earth used to have those great sets and an amazing music score. Now the ending is a little screen with a cartoon with music that is just random and the cartoons arent even that good.

They could have kept the old music you have to admit that music sounded like one of the best artist wrote it and I dont even listen to that kind of music they could have kept those cool sets save time by not touching them and have the screens to. I still think that stuff is there it looks as if there a wall or blockade on both sides hiding it all or maybe I am wrong maybe there making new sets. I dont mind them changing imagination but everyone loves the dreamfinder and I thought eric idle was just plain boring and the ride was short. I can find a better ride in Santas Village. Like I said change is good but dont demolish a masterpiece unless you replace it with a better one.

It just makes me a confused Evan.:lol:

Seeing that you're spelling and grammar still has problems, I'm still doubting your validity.

Well, at least everything I say is honest and I am having a tough time with spelling and grammar. If you are really trying that hard to figure out that I am saying than we shall talk over the phone.

I was trying to be open minded and now I might sound like a brat but watching these old videos of spaceship earth have made me less open minded to what everyone els has to say. The new one is absolutely horrible. Even if they did add some new fun features it just doesn't make sense and it feels and looks so unfinished. There is a huge empty spot in the ride. They really need to fill the end up with more scenes instead of that tunnel with the diamonds.

Those fiber-optics were the best way to explain communication and those cartoon on those screens for crying out loud are nothing to do with the ride those are only good on horizons. Nice way to add a pinch of horizons but it does not work. I am still studying the rides and trying to look at the new one but it is so depressing seeing what they threw away. They need a new speaker to they need to keep some original character hire John Tesh for crying out loud he would do perfect.

Just to warn you my spell check thats installed into my computer is not picking up all the mistakes spelling and grammar. If anyone can help me figure out this prolum please do. Sorry for the inconvenience .

I hear there's a lot of bickering at meetings over at Epcot... in the words I heard "...the next part of the meeting didn't go so well... at all. Lots of arguing."

So maybe Epcot is suffering in some way.

Firefox has a built in spell check. Ieet preevents manny meestakes By Puttinng litle red Lines undr th mispeledd woords. That way you don't have to write everything in Word or Works to easily benefit from a spell checker. Grammar is a different story, however. I've yet to see any automated program that gives meaningful corrections to the kind of grammar you use. I'm afraid you may just have to learn how to read and write in English.

But back to the main topic at hand...

If you're forming your opinion on anything from videos you've watched on your computer you've succeed in erasing what little credibility you had as far as I'm concerned.

So I'm done. I hope you spend some time visiting the Six Flags parks you believe are superior to EPCOT so you'll finally find happiness. Perhaps you'll find a nice Six Flags message board with some like-minded folks to chat with about how awesome those parks are, and how they have Disney completely beat.

Don't be so arrogant. This is all opinion. You have yours and they have theirs. If you don't like their opinion and don't want to enter the discussion without bashing the person then just ignore the thread. Too bad Firefox doesn't have built in common sense.

Wow wow wow before we have any hard feelings!!!!!! I am afraid of that happening. Epcot is still great and it's not epcot and this whole discussion turned out worst than I thought. I am also not saying change isn't good. I just dont think the imagineers take as much pride in their work as much as they used to. But I could be wrong they might not have as much to work with. Epcot is nothing like 6 flags thank god.

This is a delicate subject I started. Are we good or do you just want to find someone to pick at. I was wondering why it seemed like that to me and if anyone els felt the same way. I just want to exchange ideas and see what others thing and I am very open minded to other ideas. I dont even set foot into 6 flags by the way I just never want to see epcot being treated like 6 flags. I just think epcot is heading for a more commercial route and I wanted to hear what others had to say I know nothing so before you jump the gun and flip out make a normal reply instead of calling me out thats all you do isn't it.

I could just say the hell with you but I didn't. And I would be using firefox if it worked on my computer it's outdated. No ones perfect and believe it or not you arent ether I dont want herd feelings I would never leave you a reply like that and if someone did I would stick up for you in a heartbeat. If you have something against me dont talk to me I dont want any hard feelings I dont want a problem I just want to get along. If you cant do that it's your loss and you will never get far in life that way even if you are a loaded rocket scientist or anything at that level. I hope thats not how you realey are you will just end up alone or unfulfilled in the future.

Well that over so back to epcot where did we leave off from????

I don't know why so many people dislike the current Epcot...

The park is supposed to be about discovering and learning new things. If they kept the same rides for 25+ without updating them, they'd finally get to a point where no one would learn or experience anything new anymore, because they would have already done everything or learned everything before.

In order to keep Epcot fresh and exciting for everyone Disney has to update it. It's the basic nature of the park itself. If they did't update it every so often we would end up Epgot: Experimental prototype ghosttown of tomorrow.
