Hi guys i`m a long time Disney fan and know all about the parks, so with that said, Epcot deserves much more love. i get that its getting refurbs and two rides and a restaurant but i think it should get another two rides, another thriller ride and another dark ride like POTC. i believe if they do that they we will have to all-day parks. That being the MK and Epcot. but let me know what you think

Epcot is already an all day park, in fact I think like MK it requires at least two days to experience it properly. I'll always agree that Epcot needs more attention it's been in a decline now for a long time. However as you've pointed out it is getting two new rides (granted one replaces UoE, RIP ) . Illuminations is being changed as well and there are plenty of rumours to indicate other attractions might soon receive some much needed attention!

Um, I’d like a new car, new flooring in my bedrooms, a pool, hurricane windows for several rooms, and a newly landscaped yard.

The reality is I can’t afford all at once without taking out a big home equity loan, so I’ll plan a little at a time.

Plus the likelihood is something else will break in the meantime, taking top priority.

So I can’t fault Disney for not adding two more attractions to Epcot right this minute.

There’s so much more planned for Epcot. If it all happens remains to be seen.

You’ll find there’s a lot of threads about the proposals that are public knowledge on these boards. And hints to those yet to become known about ;)

Oh come on. The pavilions have always been about the culture and people, not about whatever government happens to be in power at the time. At the risk of venturing into the political, Mexico and China have some skeletons in their closets over the years, as well as some governmental issues.. that hasn't stopped them from being just fine as pavilions at Epcot.

Whatever goes in for a Brazil pavilion (if it goes in) won't be about the Government of Brazil, nor will it be sponsored by the Govt of Brazil. The ones that remain sponsored from the outside are from business groups, AFAIK, with possibly only Morocco still having any governmental involvement, and even that one I'm not sure of.

The beauty of World Showcase is you have been able to see the best of the people, culture, and land without having to deal with any of the political nonsense that may be going on in the real version far, far away.

My response to this will always be: 31 years...and “I’ll believe it when i see it”

They can prove me wrong whenever.

There has always been a fundamental flaw to “there’s Brazilians everywhere...THEY’RE GONNA BUILD BRAZIL!!”

That’s a bit naive...it’s more than that. It it was just about “people and culture”, then there is no legitimate reason why a CCCP pavilion wasn’t included in 1979 given the climate at Time.

Disney has always danced the line between “open minded” and “pearl clutching”...they’ve been brilliant at pulling both sides to the middle. So while sponsorship is and was a corporate thing...a reasonable assessment was its more than that.

There's a bit of a difference between the cold war and what's currently going on in Brazil. Like, most people aren't even aware of what's going on in Brazil. Also, the CCCP wasn't much of a tourist draw. Heck, Russia _still_ isn't much of a tourist draw to WDW. Brazil, on the other hand, is a massive market for Disney, to the point they have built an airport there to get people to WDW.

Also, remember: The original vision from the 70s is long dead and gone. The concept of sponsorship of everything is out the window. A few linger on, but the entire concept of businesses sponsoring what amount to giant ads in a theme park is behind us, as we all have technology in our hands that allows them to target ads to us directly, for a whole lot less money.

IF DIsney is going to expand it's stock of WS pavilions, it's going to be for those who bring in the biggest numbers but aren't already represented.. so I'm betting, IF it happens, you will get Brazil and India.

Epcot is the most unique park that I think I've ever seen. Magic Kingdom has Disneyland as a park that is at least similar in many ways. But where in the world is there another Epcot? There is no other concept. When I was a teenager I was hit or miss with it. It just wasn't MK. It was vastly different. I have grown to love it as an adult. Our 7 year old son loved Epcot on our recent trip. Even things like touring the countries in the World Showcase or watching the Circle vision films. I was surprised. My cousin loved Epcot and just how immersive they were with everything in each country. His favourite part was walking through Morocco and feeling as if he were in an actual town. You have to appreciate the things of Epcot because you can't rely on the thrills because there aren't many.

Could they add a ride in World Showcase? Sure. I'd like to think there was room to keep Maelstrom and Frozen. Or if they ever figure out the legal issues with getting a Mary Poppins ride built that would work in United Kingdom. It is just a great park that is truly unique in its own way. There is not another Epcot anywhere. We literally did every attraction (minus the character meets) the day we went, even if it took 12 hours. And we still took time to appreciate the little nooks and crannies in each country. For instance, I just love watching the model village in Germany with the trains. I could watch that for an hour.

As it typically goes on this kinda thread - we probably don’t disagree at all.

The old system isn’t in place anymore - very true....but there are perceptions and realities that Disney still considers far more than most would like to think. It can’t be dismissed that easily. So when “plans change” is inevitably thrown out as a catch all excuse...there is more thought behind the scenes.

But to the last part above - Brazilians travel to WDW because they are hopped up on a phoney credit “spend it now” mentality in a sugar cane republic. This isn’t really a secret - it’s as you say: “most don’t care to know”

So they come anyway...is a pavilion gonna change that or enhance business? No. Are the other demographics gonna really be drawn in? I would venture no more than the old and moldy pavilions already there.

If they want to build one - fire away. But we have been down this road so many times that country pavilion “rumors” should really be kinda ignored. The conclusion from experience.

I love to be wrong though...so they’re welcome to make it so.

Indeed. This one still has legs so far. AFAIK it’s still not been pulled.

I’ve also not seen one get this far down the chain. Amazing I know.

Spain was bandied around ALOT in 2002...remember they put up signs in the park in 1983...

Financials were blamed for one reason of another...which is legit. But that excuse can be used on a moments notice and is always free for interpretation.

Lots of smoke with comparatively little fire.

I’ll wait for dirt on this one - thats the play.

As far as the rest is what to do with Epcot? It’s a mess...the more I looked at that guardians pavilion...next to the voluntarily closed wonders of life with the lines to Kissimmee for a cutting board?

...I don’t know...what a mess.

How about adding a petting Zoo and dark roller coaster (a la SM)?
EPCOT can become the park you go to when you only have 1 day and want to experience all 4 parks..

Change Innoventions to 'Representations' with small attractions like other parks..

Frozen to rep DHS
Roller coaster to Rep MK
Petting Zoo to rep AK
