Epcot Sign

I have just been looking at the pictures of the Flower & Garden Festival and I have decided that I don't like the sign over Spaceship Earth. I loved the "2000" icon, but I just think that the Epcot sign looks a bit tacky and lame.

What do y'all think

yep I'm with you on that. I am OK with the concept, but I dont like the font they used - its very NON-Epcot looking in my opinion.

It could be one of those things that looks better in the flesh though.

If they were gonna put that up there on a permanent basis, they should have made it look very futuristic. They could have used the fiberoptics they used in the sidewalks outside innoventions to give it a space-age feel. It could bee in the purple and silver colors during the daytime and at night it would glow all futuristically.

The sign is ok. I can deal with it, at least for a couple of years. But if this thing is permenant, I'm gonna climb Spaceship Earth myself and rip it down.

You better believe its permenant! Disney wouldn't go to the trouble of making a huge tower, bigger than Spaceship Earth (bigger than ToT as well), with a huge wand in mickey's hand - just as a temporary sign to celebrate an event that will only happen once. Taking it down at this point would be too much of a cost.

i'm holding off casting my vote on the sign until i see it in person. i do agree that the font was COMPLETELY wrong

I like the sign. It stands out as a neat addition to the spaceship earth icon---and it is as neat in person as the 2000 sign.

I think it's a great addition. Spaceship Earth would look naked if they took the whole thikng down. I do admit they could have used a better font, but I'm happy with what they did.

I loved the "2000" sign over spaceship earth. I didnt like this one that much when looking at the pictures on the WDW MAGIC Board but.....

It has to be better than nothing at all and;

What I really want to know is does it light up at night - that must look ok.

It would have been better if they had made the 2000 sign with detachable digits (i.e. they could have took the "0" of the 2000 and replace it with a "1" and then next year with a "2" etc..... so it could have been left up there.

Or would that cost more than I think???

Houllier sounds fine to me. I wonder if they could fit " Hou let the Reds out... Hou..Hou..Houllier!!!.

I go to epcot about once every 2 weeks or so..and the sign still looks REALLY bad to me...I wasnt a big fan of the 2000...but thats also still when i thought the whole concept of having words on a giant ball was temporary....

Being a epcot visitor for most my life...i like Spaceship earth to be "naked"...the way it was originally designed. The rigging unit that holds up the "epcot" is fading and will not survive 10 years of florida heat/weather.

I just think the money could of been more appropriatly spent elsewhere in epcot. Not to mention putting up a tacky looking "epcot" really kills the effect the original 2000 had last year.

I would be delighted if SE went back to being "naked" Like I said the "2000" logo was great, but just for that special celebration. Lets lauch a "Get Naked" campaign for Spaceship Earth

Well the rigging for the sign supposidly is only going to be "safe" for about 8 years or so. At that point, I HOPE they realize how stupid it looks
