Main Street USA

As great of an image as it is, the image has been removed because it has been in a previous contest. Please do not vote for Main Street USA in this contest. Thank you.

I hate being a party pooper, but Main Street USA has already entered that photo, and it even won first place then. How do I remember? I voted for it the first time around. It's a gorgeous shot!

Or did the rules change, and I havent taken note? :o
nope...the rules did not change...and I've been looking for that photo. (I got wind that it had been a contestant before too...but since I couldn't find it...I couldn't prove it...now I can prove it.} So...Main Street USA's image is disqualified. It will be removed from the contest and while I am not going to start a new contest...it will be removed from the page.

While we're on the rules thingy... are there camera models that automatically create borders on pictures? One photo has a border that more than likely was added within an image editing program. Just wondering... :)

I can add the border with my camera's software. I have never thought to do so, but I don't think it would be against the rules (IMHO)...I could be mistaken. ..thats not editing the content, is it?

That's why I was asking. I wasn't sure if some models had a border capability. However, whenever I look at several pictures of similar quality, the border gives a little extra "ooomph" over other pics. Just a question... not harping!

There were a LOT of great pictures for this contest!

I like the finished quality it brings to the picture, sort of like matting a photo before its framed.

The pics this time thru (like so many in the past) have been great and its hard to pick just one.

Congratulations to all! :sohappy:

That's a grey area. It IS editing, however it is something that can be accomplished fairly easily in a darkroom. And the spirit of the rules was and has always been, "If it can be done in a darkroom, then it's ok."

I vote as allowed, but unethical

Its not editing content though (IMHO). There is no meshing of photos to get the perfect fireworks display or getting that sun ray just right (not saying that anyone has done that). I don't think its unethical, but if the powers that be don't want it allowed thats fine with me.

When the rules were first established on the photo contests, as they were stated, if it can be done in a darkroom, it's ok. It is actually entirely possible to add a border in a darkroom... in fact, it's rather easy.

I don't view it as ethical if a person enters a contest with a digitally or darkroom added border, however due to the original spirit of the rules, it is technically allowed.
