Epcot Opening Ceremony

Greetings All,

I want Walt Disney World and the Walt Disney Company Board to understand the original mission of Epcot, see the heritage, and why we need another Ceremony for the 25th Anniversary of Epcot. Such a Milestone does not deserve to be squandered away like a TV set or a Toaster. Another ceremony like this one is very appropriate. It is also prudent to have a special fireworks program for October 1st, 2007.

Let us not squander away celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Walt Disney's vision for the future. In the opening Ceremony, Card Walker states Epcot Center's goals very clearly. "We want to first entertain, then inform, and above all instill in our guests a new sense of hope and pride in mankind's ability to shape a world that offers real hope to people everywhere in the world." This quote is on the dedication plaque outside Epcot under the flag. And now...

Thanks to the miracle of digital, I invite all to see the Epcot Center Opening Ceremony from October 1st ,1982.:)

I would have no problem whatsoever if they brought back the opening ceremony they did for the Millennium celebration. The inspirational message from Walt and the bird release to me simply epitomized Epcot.

I'm happy to say that Epcot's management team is holding a rededication ceremony the morning of Oct. 1st. Our Celebration 25 group will be there to celebrate, and so will the media, so it seems that they do realize how important this is.

Of all the ebay auctions I let slip by, I can't believe that mouse surplus sold that light up sculpture for something like $3200.

In many ways, I'm feeling very positive about ceremonies on the 1st. It isn't going to be some big media glitz and hype, have the park closed down for hours so that only dignitaries participate.

Instead, it appears that we will be able to participate in a rather intimate, quiet ceremony. I hope it stays that way.

well, this is the last thing you want... a bunch of people that really dont care sitting around eating cupcakes wishing they were back on the golf course.

it is either have a big hoopla with the dreaded media involved or something more simple and the average citizen can participate. id choose the later

I hope the ceremony planners involve Cast Members from all the countries of the world showcase. They did this in 1982 in the opening ceremony and it was very effective. You can see it in part three of the video. The cultural diversity represented in the cast I feel is the backbone to the park's mission for a brighter future.

There used to be a building attached to the backside of SSE? :veryconfu

One thing that struck me watching the blimp-cam in the video (and, posted above as a screenshot) is the original silvery glow of SE. It doesn't look "silvery white;" it looks just plain silver! That's hopefully what the deep-cleaning will be able to restore it to.
