Was this one hour or so after the MK closed? If so it is because Disney has a new policy of shutting them down at that time.. I would seriously complain to Guest Services.....

Magic Kingdom doesn't close until midnight tonight and they only close the monorails an hour after when EMH are going on.

Yes! Please complain! This is a joke that TDO does this. If we can get enough people to complain we might be able to get TDO to change it back

It was around 8 o'clock so still should have been running. Had to take a bus to TTC then get monorail to CR. Got back to our room around 9:15. We asked why it was closed but they just said its currently shut down and to please go to a bus???? This was our first evening staying at a monorail resort and we end up on a bus, go figure.

First of all, if he was going from EPCOT to TTC, the monorail shuts down based on EPCOT's closing, not Magic Kingdom. Secondly why don't you check the time of his post or the hours of the park(Hint: It's EPCOT, they rarely ever change!) before you jump on the complaining bandwagon.

And I'll add that this just illustrates my point. Here we have yet another monorail outage during peak guest times causing inconvenience to MANY MORE guests. They can(hopefully) significantly reduce these situations at the expense of the relatively few guests who A) stay at EMH longer than an hour and B) are staying at a monorail resort. Of course the major breakdowns on xmas day, July 3, AND July 4, should be more than enough to illustrate my point.

Epcot's early closure tonight was due to a train issue, Green had issues and had to be taken off and there weren't enough trains fixed and ready in Shop to replace it so the beam had to be shut down. Sad really.

I hope they finally just take the monorail system down for a refurb. I don't care if it takes a month. Get it fixed, good god this is getting ridiculous!

Agreed. Just announce the refurb and give notification to all guests staying in the monorail resorts. Also, offer a no penalty resort switch where available with any refunds due to resort switch. A refund or Disney gift card of some type may be substituted if no resorts of the guest's liking are available.

You know, I personally would not turn down the Grand Floridian with a good discount in lieu of monorail service. I have stayed in the Poly and CR. Other than the monorail dropping me off 4 floors below my room (at the CR), not having to fold the stroller, SOMETIMES reliable frequency (moreso infrequent with early closures and problems) vs a bus, and capacity vs a bus, I didn't find the monorail all that convenient. The Poly monorail station was so far from our room that the TTC was closer. Switching to the Epcot monorail was also a pain. I prefer the bus to switching at TTC because it's crowd fighting once vs twice.

No. Monorails close one hour after park closing. Period. If Epcot closes at 9, its monorail closes at 10, regardless of MK's status.

If everyone who is inconvenienced by this complains, then Disney will have exact figures on how few people really are affected.

you don't get it. WDW CAN'T HANDLE the crowds without the monorails during peak time. See July 3, July 4, and Xmas day for examples. You can't just shut down the monorail for a month. Even in the slow season, it's not feasible. Additionally, they cant work on all 12 trains at the same time with however many techs they have. They have to do it over time, but give them enough time to accomplish their tasks each night. Thus, EMH hours got cut.

Maybe it's time for some new trains they don't even need to be a new design just one for one replacements just updated with new technology

If they got rid of free dining it would be very easy! Lol I disagree this could be pulled off in September.

What basis are you making that statement on? Unless you work in Disney transportation, you really don't know what the extent of the work is. Disney isn't about to sacrifice the satisfaction of guests staying at three of their top tier resorts to do this project. Damage control over 2 hours once a week when crowds are lower is a lot easier to handle than a month of shut down would be.
