EPCOT: June 20th Update

True, especially on the characterized part.
I wish Disney is not so focused on trying to entertain the kids & lessen the EPCOT experience with characters. But that's just me.
It would be nice to see a more open EPCOT, like this pic:

I think that steel Innoventions West sculpture on the way to Soarin' fits pretty well, IMO.
What sculpture?

First visit was October 2000, and I have been back at least 50 times since then (can you tell Epcot quickly became my favorite park?) It wasn't a bad time to go, with it being the Millenium Celebration and all. TT had just opened, The Living Seas was still in place, UoE was still relevant, and WoL was still opened. Its funny because one of the biggest memories I have from that trip is a section of black wall in FW East and wondering what they were doing back there. Little did I know what had just been there and what I had just missed.

Still, Epcot 2000 certainly wasn't, say, Epcot '94 or EPCOT Center. :(

Yeah, EPCOT 2000 was a very interesting place. Park was pretty well kept up with Maint. and all and had a ton of new stuff. I LOVED what they had done with the Millennium and all. What made it nice was that several of the originals were still around like TLS and TL. SSE was fine, too. However some things were failng, like new JII and that huge wall you mentioned.:( That huge wall I stood next to and wondered why I couldn't get behind.:(

I am assuming you hate that thing, right?

I don't know, in nighttime shots, it looks nice. And it has that Innoventions signage that I prefer over the current cartoonish Innoventions logo. Oh, and the fiber optics are a nice touch. :)
Huge Innoventions signs have GOT TO GO. Old Logo + expense of applying new color scheme= demolition!

Well, yes. And there are two of them. Both are pretty big and behind SSE.
:lookaroun:rolleyes:

Actually, there are three of them. One facing SSE, one facing MouseGear, and one facing the Fountainview, all connected by that ugly purple wire sculpture thing, surrounded by cracking gray pavement and planters, each of which is filled with overgrown green foliage. :hurl:

On the plus side, the fiber optics in the pavement are pretty cool! :)

Road to Tomorrow and Millenium re-do of the plaza I believe. I guess the idea was the wire structure kinda matched the circus tent hangings.

Ahhh...I SO did not get that from your post.

Yeah, rip down the signs!

No, those and the Towers were there. Remember those? With all the Neon? And the SSE/Lightbulb/thumb logo? I actually liked those...

Okay. found a YouTube vid that kinda helps. Turns out we're both kinda right, but mostly EE  The structure was there, but the actual signs were not. Interesting vid from 1994 I might add. A lot of work to turn Communicore into Innoventions (a lot more than I thought!).

At 1:11 in the video. The purple thing with the Innoventions sign. I know what you mean when you say the towers and all, but thats not what we're talking about.

EDIT: Anyone else amused by the Jurassic Park exhibit in the vid?

Ah, yes...I gotcha. Didn't we already agree that that had been there since CC became IV/Epcot'94?
