After having some more time to digest Epcot Forever, I have to say it’s starting to grow on me. Sure, it’s no illuminations and I have to see it in person to pass judgment but after seeing it a few more times I’ve enjoyed the show a lot more. The kiddie voices are still weird though. One of the coolest parts for me is definitely the “spring” fireworks during the second time one little spark is played, with makin memories and, veggie veggie fruit fruit. Of course, fire kites are awesome. Can’t wait to see this in person in January. Very excited for HarmonUS (still need to work on that acronym.

Easier to charge for 4 days.
But who on Earth could think of an IP like Moana and build a freaking fountain on EPCOT!! And call it a timeless attraction!!

And who thought of Frozen and said.. Well.. if we have to put a ride somewhere let's put it on EPCOT as it does not fit in any other Disney park..
Oh wait! What about MK??
Mm.. you are right.. maybe we should move Test track over there but lets rebrand it, with an IP nobody cares about like Tron.

I watched it on Youtube and I actually really liked it up until the finale. A Whole New World was just a weird way to end it - I kinda get the message they're trying to send, but tonally it just doesn't fit and it feels awkward. It would've been great if they had somehow worked the Horizons theme song into the end - the "New horizons for you and me" theme would've been a great theme and sentiment to go out on.

Didn't mind the kids singing at all, and I liked the musical arrangements of the various attraction songs. The kites looks great - I'm sure they're a sight to see in person. I just gotta say it is really weird seeing a fireworks show at Epcot without the globe as the centerpiece. The lagoon just looks kinda empty. I'm sure I'll get used to it - I think HarmoniUS is supposed to use more set pieces.

People care about Tron though. Maybe not a lot of normies, but there was a lot of outcry over the cancellation of Uprising and Tron 3.

Yep! I’m definitely one of these people I loved legacy. Happy we are getting lightcycle in MK and then that leads to TRON coming back. Always been a fan of TRON.

So, I will have to guess... you are both named Bob.. but one of you has to be Chapek and the other must be Iger..

:p

Just joking!
Hope you enjoy the ride!

You may be trolling, but taking you at your word it wasn’t decided that way. Sure, Frozen naturally fits in Fantasyland and Norway is a stretch. But EPCOT needed/needs the help more than MK.

Moana naturally fits at Adventureland, but EPCOT needed more green, more cooling water, more shade, and a popular IP to go with it. I’m just glad it wasn’t Degobah!

Honestly...if Frozen (the movie) had been set in Norway, it's no longer an issue. The problem is they used a vaguely Norwegian fictional nation and then tried to shoehorn it into the actual Norway.

The backgrounds, clothing, trolls, etc...were already in Maelstrom. It was a fit... technically...but only superficially. Rat, on the other hand, is an IP that has a natural home in France. You can't really have that movie if it isn't set in Paris. The food, culture and story of that movie are completely intertwined with traditional French kitchens.

This is true. And I almost think that's the biggest insult. I will wait until the ride opens, but it appears to be a direct lift from Paris. It is focused solely on Remy as a Remy ride. It does not talk about Paris or France (or anything French culture) at all. France is merely the setting. If they rewrote the ride story to be Remy's Culinary Adventure - or something where Remy is going to teach you classic French cooking or show how you train to be a chef in France, I would be more hopeful here. It's taking something already designed - but still adjusting it to meet it's surroundings.

To add onto my last post... Again, the thing impacting me the most about this is that it didn't HAVE to be a stretch. It would always be a stretch to some extent. But, they tried to get away without even trying. Other than mentioning Norway in a HORRIBLE short, there is nothing tying Arendelle to Norway. However, there is plenty tying the costumes, settings, etc. of Frozen to Scandinavian locations and styles. There's a very Epcot-esque story that could be told with that (and basically via the queue with the ride staying in place). The kids who want to see Frozen will be just as happy. And, there might be a chance others will enjoy it too - or at least not go constantly "Why is this here?" and learn to try to ignore it instead of appreciate it.

Disney's logic for "A Whole New World" in EF. Aladdin takes place in the Arabian city of Agrabah (more likely the Middle East). He needs a Meet and Greet somewhere. Let's put him in Morocco. Morocco is a pavilion in Epcot. Aladdin is part of Epcot. That makes A Whole New World an Epcot theme. Let's use that to close out EF!

I personally didn't mind the new recordings. I appreciate they didn't just play the cataloged audio. However, the execution of the new recordings was not well done. With the great home run that is HEA (sorry it IS the greatest MK show ever), I had hoped Disney was back on track with creating shows with the story first. Sadly they've ran out of creative fuel.
HEA is the greatest technical achievement for an MK night show. However, I still insist its soundtrack is just as disjointed as Epcot Forever or Rivers of Light.

I hope Minnie’s Magical Christmas Extravaganza of Holiday Dream Wishes Magic isn’t clunky like this.

Agreed. This is the difference between TDO and Steve Davidson. Steve has to do IP fests too.... but somehow they work cause he and his team get the timing. That’s my opinion of course.

Disneyland Forever has nothing to do with Disneyland but it’s so fun that I don’t notice the ip until frozen starts and it’s super obvious.

I would be impressed if they gave the decision that much thought. I think someone was just fixated with the lyrics and didn’t bother to consider anything about their original intent or context.

Except you can't really remove Remy from France...the story wouldn't work in Berlin.

The setting matters.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't close with "Let It Go" to tell all us Epcot fans "it's over...now shut up and just let Epcot go". And it would actually make more sense since Frozen is already part of Epcot 🤮
