Epcot character/entertainment changes

I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt that meet and greets make a serious impact on whether people go back into World Showcase or not.

Ever tried walking around WS with a kid who has zero interest??

Add a few princesses here and there and WS becomes THE BEST!!

Hence more families able to spend their time in WS as both adults and kids will be appeased :D

Hopefully Rapunzel will be on the German side of Italy, near the trains. Then she'll practically be in the correct spot, there is room there and far enough away from Snow White. Sort of where the current Italy F&W kiosk is located.

It irks me that they have this irrational desire to plug characters into every single little nook and cranny they can.

You can't turn around in a park anymore without seeing a meet and greet.:hurl:

The placement is nonsensical, but it's really a secondary peeve in this situation.

I'd say more ... well, I did.

But I guess I am not allowed an opinion on the subject.

How shocking.

The opinion isn't the problem, it's the words you choose to say it. Speak your mind all you want, but watch the language for what is supposed to be a family friendly forum.

I watch my words carefully. All the time.

There was nothing obscene. No four letters. No f-bombs. So, I'm really not sure what was offensive. ... If there was something, that word could have been removed without losing the entire post.

But the bottom line is character interaction is NOT what the extent of WDW entertainmeny should be. And it wasn't always that way at all. From Broadway at the Top ... to the Diamond Horeshoe ... to Disney's first hard ticket party (bet you don't even know what event I am speaking of) ... to Grad Nights ... to, yes, Pleasure Island and its clubs, WDW was NOT all about catering to very impressionable seven-year-olds.

The artwork I have seen from the latest movie could easily be northern Italy. I am not sure when or where the story takes place but way back when some of those areas were part of Germany and Austria. So it really is not such a stretch. And I thought I was obsessed with place setting.

Film's set in a fictional kingdom, Corona, which seems to draw from all over Europe.

Well this maybe true but this is now how things are so it will just have to be accepted....

My thoughts exactly.

74 definetely needs to be made well aware of his attitude problems and tendency to be disrespectful of those who have opinions that are different from his.

His failure to see and feel the Disney magic is downright irritating and I wish he would be banned from this forum already. :(

No, that's just it. Guests/Customers do NOT have to blindly accept anything Disney (or any company) does. They can vocally and/or in writing express their displeasure or they can even voice it on sites such as this as social media becomes such an important part of corporate Disney.

I don't get TDO or TWDC.
I'm not completely opposed to these characters in Epcot (though I'm sad to see that highly detailed room where the pooh M&G is in the UK get torn out) but why does every other park have to get Magic Kingdomized? Can we not have one place where characters aren't the draw? They confuse me because on the one hand, they build highly-detailed and culturally conscious things like Aulani, and I think they did a fantastic job with Via Napoli and La Hacienda, but then they turn around and shove characters everywhere they can in places they don't exactly belong. I don't get it. The two seem incongruous.

...with a huge line.

I understand that "Epcot isn't supposed to be that place" but it's hard to fault Disney for finding more places to give the guests what they want.

Judging by the crowds even in this economy most guests are very pleased with WDW. You seem to be increasingly out of touch with the average guest and I suspect that gap will only widen with time. I would also like to see more adds as they once did but they are hardly standing still. Your rants had some merit before the FLE and Avatar were announced but now your arguments are wearing thin.

You return to the topic of shutting down the DHR show all the time. I am thinking much of what has made you bitter has roots in the fact that particular show is gone and not returning. Get over it.

As to the topic at hand, many of the m&gs are or will be indoors or are inconspicuous and not really even visible. If you are not intersted just walk on.

I see them like the windows of the main street emporium except it gives guests the opportunity to walk in to these stories that they enjoy. It seems logical that this would be a magical experience for children and parents (and grandparents!)

You have to be a real life grinch to have a problem with that. As I said, if you don't like it just move along. Everything isn't about you.

Sorry, but aside from the Princess, Fairies, and Mickey in the MK, I've never seen a M&G with a huge line, even at the busiest of times.

Odd, every time I walk into the MK the various characters near the flag (usually Pluto, Daisy and the like) have huge lines. Ever step foot in the Character Spot in Epcot? Hour+ long lines.

When I was in WDW last week it seemed like we waited on longer lines for characters than we did for actual rides.

Yup.
