Did anyone's perception about the place change from before you saw it online vs seeing it in person. Did it turn out worse or not as bad as you thought vs seeing through pictures and through video? This I'd find interesting.
Better in person. I never thought the lights looked particularly great in the photos but it’s a much nicer space to be in even though the soundtrack gets a lil repetitive. I do owe Martin an apology though — the stage + music is too much.

Worse. No kinetics. Lighting is atrocious (there are paths with no lights at night). The planter makes no sense. Walt-on-the-throne. 'Nuff said. It's just... there.

That's exactly how I felt too, I loved the night, but oh the stage concert next to communicore is horrendous, worse than a Disney Spring's stage. I get families and kids want place to dance let loose but add on top crazy music can only brainwash you after tranquil time of Journey of Water!

Agreed, vs from the concept arts the down elevation elevated paths looked so cool and fun except we didn't get em and everything is so bland and simple with railings like a community college park! They are going to miss the notion of having a fountain once Epic Universe opens! No more lines to see Walt!

Let's not forget his other idea...which pretty much took the rides and moved them to DCA..

Wasn't it his idea behind DisneySea the US version before Japan took on it?

Name something Disney has gotten right the last 10 years. Guardians? We still had to lose a classic to get it and the pre-show is one of the bigger beatings after 2-3 rides.

There are a few things, but the absolutely wrong and massively disappointing list is way longer. There are probably 10-15 absolute failures that are far worse than imaginable.

Preference is one thing, but removing The Great Movie Ride, spending 5 years of misery in construction to make EPCOT marginally worse, missing on Stars Wars, opening a hotel to just close it almost instantly, doubling prices while reducing hours and quality, etc are unforgivable management failures.

For WDW - The Skyliner, Soarin, Spaceship Earth Light's and monorail light's and The France Expansion and Gran Destino! Notice these are additions not replacements :) except Soarin replaced Food Rocks.

France expansion used a 10 year old ride system and copied what already existed.

The lights on Spaceship Earth are largely negative for purists. Furthermore, we have a problem if a big win in the last 10 years are some lights.

Soarin has been open for 20 years and a classic was removed, as you mentioned. The refresh was lazy and didn’t address issues with the screen and used too much CGI. Many preferred the original.

Gran Destino is not the best looking or well-themed hotel.

Monorail lights is a small enhancement, not a big win. The monorails are in horrible shape regardless of lights they slap on them. Everything about them, narration, cleanliness, A/C function, no riding in the front, efficiency, etc are all worse than before.

Skyliner is more convenient and overall a good addition but has its own shortcomings. It should have serviced more areas, been faster, more comfortable, and was another example of being slightly less than it should be at a Disney park. It’s also transportation, something Disney should solve automatically not market as Disney great park feature.

Your examples primarily being lights and transportation as big wins just proves my point about what Disney is offering in the parks lately.

The Land really could use an interior remodel, one cool idea could be giving the pavilion interior a more environmental theme
Personally I'd like to see the land turned into an indoor forest. Walls with plants growning all over them, a waterfall feature somewhere (perhaps under the entrance area going down towards the lower level), etc. Something themed similar to "The Green Planet" in Dubai.

It's supposed to represent the land but right now it feels like an old mall about to close.

Idk what purists you’re talking to but the lights are one of like three things that everyone seems to agree was a net gain. I just wish they were used in a little more moderation
Yeah, I don't have stats but there are plenty I've seen here that don't like them because it looks cheesy particularly when they are moving. It's not like Spaceship Earth was dark before they added lights to it.

But again, if lighting is a big win for you, my point has been made.

Spaceship Earth I like both if they could still have segments of it appear as it did before. When I say France Expansion I don't mean the ride which I should of clarified. To me The France Expansion is the project that met identical closest to it's first concept art.
Disney World hasn't had something big since Avatar. Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, even just Guardians do not meet the scale of the absolute best! I'm not saying anything is a major win but the things that made additions to the parks as promised.

You want the skyliner to go faster !🙉
The Skyliner is comfortable, yeah only when you get to the turn station. When you say more comfortable you probably referring to some nice cushion seats than a wooden bench..The Skyliner is exactly like the monorail, maybe not as iconic but even the monorail you can't say it's just Transportation. The Skyliner is as much an attraction in itself it's how you see it, and how you decide to make use of it.

Gran Destino is Grand, it's the last latest resort that isn't DVC, it's lobby and archway entrance and restaurant above can't compare to anything else. The theme matches to the rest of Coronado making the whole resort fit in.

Honestly though Disney World has been missing a bigger land, bigger new resort, a new country, even what's coming isn't impressive but more like reskins.
