EPCOT Center 35th Anniversary Events?

I'm personally hoping for an Imagination announcement, but I doubt we will hear anything.
According to @marni1971 , the Imagination overhaul/refurb project is proposed to be completed by 2022-3. 5 years from completion would be a stretch for a single ride. GotG is expected to take about 3 years from this point till completion. I wouldn't expect much of anything to be announced. Maybe some more details on GotG and maybe a hint of Brazil coming at some point?

I'm off Sunday and really want to go in the morning to get a map/button and see what type of merchandise they have. For anybody who's going (I haven't read this thread so sorry.), what time are you planning on getting there? I want to be there early but also not ridiculously early lol.

Wish I wasn't blocked on the weekends would have liked to have gone on Sunday to at least get the park map (anyone willing to pick me up one? LOL) and maybe a shirt. I'm not too worried about the other merchandise not being available. I guess I could go to the tapstiles and ask a castmember for one even if I can't get in? But that's kind of a waste, lol, guess I could spend a couple hours at the Springs ...

Does anybody know exactly what is happening during the 10 AM ceremony? Anything of actual substance or value?
I'll take a guess and say no, but anything would be a welcome surprise!:
  • Anniversary Celebration – A special celebration will be held at the Fountain View stage at 10:01 a.m. Gather to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Epcot with Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty.

I plan on arriving a little after 9am, just in time for the ceremony on the stage. I bought my shirt yesterday and will probably grab a mug, the map/button, ride some rides and then bounce for a bit to the MK. Of course I'll be back for the fireworks

Sounds like our exact plan haha.

Happy birthday EPCOT! Progress City meets Universal Exposition, with a touch of Disney Magic thrown in. Still the fairest of them all!

Quite frankly I’m excited yet scared for the ending to the 35th fireworks tag, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s louder than 4th or NYE.

2008's Welcome to our world for the pryotecnics association event on Seven Seas lagoon was the biggest fireworks show that happened...

You have to wonder if there are early bird guests over there right now just to take the advantage of the anniversary merchandise...

I just saw a photo on twitter of a line that had developed around 6:30. I’m sure there will be a lot of eBay resellers/personal shoppers there. I’m hoping to arrive around 8am, hoping that they’ll open the tapstiles a little early and it won’t be complete chaos...
