Because WoL is never going to need it again.

I think he meant why was it moved originally, years ago. (The arch hasn't been there as long as I can recall, going back to '98).

Off-hand, I never heard a true explanation of why it was moved, either.

From what I can guess...

First factor would be that Metropolitan Life became MetLife. So, some sort of change in signage was bound to happen.

Second, I think the culprit might be Energy and Innoventions. The arch sort of faced toward Energy and drew guests from that main pathway. Energy used to load from the side closest to Wonders. They moved it's line to protect the dinosaur topiary that is closest - and the Ellen billboard thing was also soret of blocking that area.

Together those also put a ton of guests right near Exxonmobil's lounge entrance, which may of been a problem.

Also Innoventions taking over meant the walkway out into Future World from Communicore was gone - no Energy Exchange.

Thus the whole traffic pattern was shifted dramaticly in the area, all around the same time.

There was a large "Ellen's Energy Adventure" sign istalled when that attraction reopened, and this sign would have been very close to that....it probably would have looked very cluttered.

I *KNEW* something seemed different about that pavilion when I visited in 2002 (my previous trip had been in 1990). In a strange way, the removal of the arch made the pavilion seem less impressive. Could this have contributed to the dwindling attendance numbers which eventually caused WOL's demise?

Hmmmmmm....

no the fact that it was out dated did and they just seem to be keeping it till they can come up with a good replacement
