Entertainment cuts

Anyone have a guesstimate on what it actually would cost per day to run Muppets show?

6 puppeteers making what, scale? $20/hr?
A live actor at least every other show, so maybe another $20/hr.
Sound booth crew, 15/hr x 2
CM to lay down the rope 12/hr max
X8 hour days?
Around $1500 per day
45k a month..
Which seems like a lot, but that’s probably how much they make in a day at the food carts around Liberty Square.
Pretty much pennies to Disney.

So, live entertainment cuts just in recent memory (by no means a complete list):

Disneyland: Pixarmonic Orchestra, Golden Horseshoe Improv Show, Newsboys Trolley Show, Farley the Fiddler, Firehouse Band, Jedi Training Academy, Lion King show cut dancers, Frozen performances cut back significantly

I don't know if I would classify Farley as a cut since it seemed he voluntarily retired.

But I will add to your list for WDW - Scoop Sanderson at MK, Off Kilter and MoRockin at Epcot. I know there's been more in recent years that I can't think of at the moment.

Also October 6 Move It Shake It goes down to two shows a day.
And just to clarify as I am hearing "mumbo jumbo" all over the place....
Is this the current "Move It, Shake It, Mousekedance It Street Party" or the previous "Move It, Shake It, Dance & Play It Street Party"?

And also the Tomorrowland Dance Party they did with Mr Incredible and Frozone was cut in 2017 at WDW.

7 puppeteers a day making $13 an hour, plus 1 Equity making around $20 an hour, plus 1 captain at around $13 an hour, and 2 techs.

I just had silhouettes made of my three kids on Sunday, and they each took turns sitting for the portrait while watching the muppets. It was a much needed bit of lively atmosphere in the heat, and the illusion of the “real” muppets being so close is pretty delightful. “Look! It’s Fozzie!” Because when you’re in Disney World it’s the real Fozzie, and he’s really up there doing a show for you and looking at you. Moments like that are valuable. It seems like such a huge reward for the relative cost.

With the myriad optically counterproductive decisions like this, it seems obvious something is broken within. The parks are an important piece of American history and they deserve better.

The Muppets was my favorite addition to MK since... Splash Mountain? It was unique, clever, and profoundly Muppet-y.

I really hope that Epic Universe kicks WDW right in the seat of the pants. I want Disney to return to some semblance of its old self, but that likely won’t happen until it takes a pretty substantial hit.

Absent a direct comparison of all the entertainment added during the same time period, the litany of what has been discontinued is pretty meaningless - just another context to bash the company out of context.

I challenge anyone to open themselves to all the entertainment options that someone (anyone) appreciates and attend them all within a two week vacation so that they have time left that they cannot fill with some entertainment being offered. You won't run out of entertainment, and that's what really matters.

Got to increase those profit margins...raising prices on everything isnt good enough. You the customer need to pay for there star wars screw up. ROI above all else. Some people still defend this company when its painfully clear how it is run across the board. People to take your picture was too much to ask for this outfit.

Yeah, I’m not renewing my annual pass to Disney World.

Recently, it’s been just a budget park masquerading like it’s of the highest quality.

I’m going to stick with Disneyland (although their entertainment is being slashed too...) and Disneyland Paris.

Talk about a knee jerk reaction

This is sad... not that I care about these shows, but with the price that always go higher in WDW, cuting entertainment is never a good thing. Will each show be replaced by something else? probably not. WDW is becoming a place for the rich...
