Engagements at Disney?

On Saturday night, I asked my girlfriend to marry me at Disney's Boardwalk just as the Epcot fireworks were going off. My line was, "Whenever we come to Disney with our kids, we will be able to tell them that this is where Mommy and Daddy got engaged."

If you have a similar story, or if you can beat the line I used, post it here! Thanks!

By the way, Disney weddings are too damn expensive. We might be having the reception at Portofino in Universal (we have connections there.)

Congrats!!! My fiance proposed to me in September at WinterSummerland....but on the winter side! We're big mini putters so it was a fabulous idea! And we're the only ones that are known to get engaged there so it adds a little bit of extra magic!

I can tell you my fiance didn't say anything CLOSE to what you said! He could barely say "will u marry me" so cudos to you for saying a full sentence!

Congrats again!!! :sohappy:

Congratulations!!!

I also proposed at Disneyworld (MK right after wishes). No better way to start the rest of your life!

Also, Disney weddings are expensive (especially if your in the UK and you need to fly your family out). For that reason we got married in the UK and then had our honeymoon in WDW - fantastic!

Congradulations!

I don't have a personal story but two years ago we were at DHS during the holiday season and were walking along the Streets of America with the snow falling and the lights dancing to the music and we saw this guy propose to his girlfriend right in the middle of it all. My wife thought it was so sweet.

My husband proposed to me in front of the castle during Wishes! We were actually sitting at the Noodle Station right up front. My husband earlier in the day was a little nervous because right before we were suppose to be leaving, the diamond place did not have my ring ready and we had to drive to Orlando without it. After a few words with them they agreed to fedex it there so that he would have it to propose that night. Meanwhile I thought we were there on business. Long story short, my husband proposed to me just after Wishes started. We were sitting really close to one another when he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer and whispered in my ear, "You mean so much to me, will you marry me?":eek:I said, "What?" "Are you serious?" I started to cry and that's when he took the ring out of his pocket. I said,"that's why you acted so weird when I tried to put my hand on his knee and he pulled away from me earlier in the day. Needless to say I said yes! We got married July 21, 2007.:sohappy:

Congratulations,

I proposed to my girlfriend last July on the Boardwalk also. We were staying at the Boardwalk walking back from EMH at Epcot around 1 am. I had been carrying the ring in my pocket all day and was terrified I would lose it. I walked her out to the gazebo before you reach ESPN zone and got on one knee. I used the exact same line as you did. My girlfriends answer was "are you serious?".

Congrats! We didn't get engaged or married at WDW but we honeymooned there. It was MK's 25th anniversary so we decided that on their 50th and our 25th we'd do it all over again (without kids).

Drew, extremely smooth and impressive lines, i'm jealous you weren't so nervous, i was a complete mess. I have a similiar story, but my lines were short and sweet.

I proposed during wishes in my very first trip to Disney World (My wife's 3rd at the time). I decided to pick out a spot near the rose garden. Right as the finale began i pulled her close, told her i wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and dropped to one knee. As if i was not nervous enough, once everyone around us realized what was happening, they started pointing and "oh my god's" all around. She said yes and cried the whole time, we went back to the resort where i needed a stiff drink and we called family.

The kicker of my story is transportation of the ring. I successfully took the ring into Philadelphia International airport without it being pulled out of my bag, and carried this thing in my backpack for 4 days into the trip before we had a chance to go to wishes. It went on every ride with me, stayed next to the bed at night, with us to meals, etc. My wife occaisinally tried to go into the bag for camera, tissues, water, whatever. I would snap and say "No, i'll get it!!" She became irritated that she could not go into the bag, but upon learning why, the first statement was "Ohhhhh, that's why i couldn't go in your bag" Needless to say the next 3 days of the trip were much more carefree, and we even did the "leave a legacy" at Epcot with our names and date of engagement.

Congratulations! I'm sure it's a memory you both will have forever, and something that will make WDW all the more magical in the future!

I proposed to my fiancee during Holiday Wishes! on the beach of the Poly in November 2007. Here is our story: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=252147
Nice pics, im amazed at the quality. I dont think you could have gotten a better visual reminder if you would have video'ed it!

As for engagements at disney, is there anyone who has gotten disney to help? B/c everything seams like it wasnt inside the parks, like off on disney property, but im curious if like during the jungle crusise you got down on 1 knee on the boat or anything like that...

We got engaged in route to disney. My now hubby had intended on asking my infront of the castle..but he was nervous and nxious so he proposed on the airplane. They flight attendant announced it. It seems that many of the other passengers were also disney bound and saw us in the parks throughout our trip and kept giving us congrats!! We returned for our honeymoon and were asked to be the grand marshals of the parade at then MGM. We returned for our first anniversary and then had to take a break for a few year to start our family. We have been returning for every anniversary for the past 7 years with our kiddies. They love hearing our disney love story!!:kiss:

It was my cousin's engagement in August 2006. We tend to vacation in packs and there were 10 of us on vacation. We were to stay at the Contemporary and had reservations but at the last minute (about 3 weeks out) my brother on my cousin's behalf changed the reservation to the Poly (thanks again Pam at KK for the help). We had a dinner scheduled at the MK which was also an EMH night on the 5th night of our trip. While at the castle, another guy proposed during the dinner. At the time of the fireworks we were huddled with the masses in the Plaza Rose Garden. At the point where Julie Andrews speaks for the 2nd time, something about "remember wishes really do come true" Paul leaned over to Bre and whispered in her ear "You know what my wish is, my wish is for Breann to be my wife." She turned to him and said "is this a joke?" whereby she saw him on his knee holding the ring. She collapsed into his arms. The whole time my brother was shooting video and a friend was snapping pictures.

Early that morning my brother told us that Paul had intended on proposing so when we took an afternoon swim break, I and a friend stopped at the crystal shop on Main Street and bought a pair of Mickey/Minnie champagne flutes and had them engraved with their names and also bought a bottle of champagne and had it chilling in the refrigerator. We presented them with champagne and glasses when we all got back to the hotel.

Sidebar, the friend who was snapping photos is a professional photographer whose company has a contest each year for the best personal photo. She submitted this great shot of Paul and Bre hugging with the fireworks in the backround. You can even see the tear in Paul's eye. She titled the picture "She Said Yes!" and won the company prize of $100.

My fiance proposed to me last May in Cinderellas Castle. We were having dinner there and we were sat next to the window to watch wishes. The whole restaurant was in on it. We sat at our table and he got up and left as soon as wishes started. Then the show starts and the Fairy Godmother asks if anyone is celebrating anything then he taps me on the shoulder dressed as Prince Charming with the matre Dee taping. I really dont remember what he said cause I was shocked. So when I said yes and we kissed it just happened to be the finaly to Wishes and in the pic you see us kissing and the blast of lights from the fireworks. We are getting married Jan 9, 2010. We cant afford a Disney wedding so ou theme is Disney. Instead of numbering our tables at the reception we are giving each table a Disney Character name. We even got little white cinderella coach carriages to decorate the tables.

My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle at the beginning of Wishes. It was so crowded because it was 2 days after Christmas. He had no room to get down on one knee, so he pulled me in for a hug and went for it! It was wonderful! I said yes...then cried through the whole show! Afterward, a man and woman came up to us to say congratulations...they had gotten engaged the same way!

We also got married in Disney! It's not that expensive...especially if you take the time customize your package and skim the budget. We had 50 guests (including the wedding party) and only paid a little over $15,000 for the ceremony and the reception. Plus, you have to confirm your date almost a year in advance, so you have plenty of time to save up money!:sohappy:
It was the best day of my life. We had so much fun, and we're planning on doing it again in 2015 for our 10th anniversary!

ah.. so sweet. that is great to hear. And it is so magical...Have to admit, that is a lot cheaper than I thought it was going to be, but you can't put a price on such great memories as that...

Best of luck..

i agree getting married at disney isn't that expensive unless you pay for the fancy/ fussy extras such as cinderella's carriage, getting married in the parks. we had 42 guests at ours and spend about $13500.
