Hi everyone....I will be going asking my girlfriend to marry me on my next trip to Disney. Were at the Wilderness Lodge Aug. 3 - 7. So I have plenty of time something.I was wondering if anyone out there has done this sort of thing before and could let me know some do's and dont's. Like the most romantic place to ask her. Or some great dinner places to take her, Or maybe some great events like the Illumination cruise that would be very romantic. The more sappy the better, she really likes that sort of stuff.

Thanks in advance

I think,...

I think a great place to ask would be in front of the castle right before Wishes starts. The castle would be right there and as soon as she says yes(hopefuly) Wishes starts and you two live happily ever after. Only at Disney could this happen. Good Luck, i'll be thinkng of some other spots to pop the question at.

Maybe at Goodnight Kiss

... which I had never heard of until I read these posts. But it does sound oh so romantic - park almost all to yourself, soft colors in the background, "will you marry me", A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes playing in the background, and of course, the kiss.

Marry ME....PLEASE!

I have seen two great proposals at DW. One was at the California Grill (at the Contemporary) on the balcony right before Wishes started. The other was in front of the castle. For my money (and having been proposed to at an NHL hockey game), I would say dinner at the Cali Grill would be the ticket. The staff there is great and I'm sure that you could have it all set up beforehand. Good Luck!

Yeah, I think on this trip, I'll take mental notes of some of her favorite things.

I just need to decided if I want to propose at Disney, or at an Aerosmith concert... heh. She loves aerosmith like you wouldn't believe. :)

Why not combine both and somehow work the Rockin' Roller Coaster into it? That'd definitely be unique and different!

Maybe i'll do it while we're on the ride... so you can see it in the photo!!!

Or I'll just be holding the ring up to her without her noticing, then show her the photo afterwards!!!

heh.

I have searched for A KEY (yes just one) before lol. And we found it.

But I have seen it done before spectro, streets are all clear and you have a nice audiance if you get yourself in the middle of the street.

This one will be real tricky but if you pull it off your future wife will never forget it. They do a little opening ceremony at the opening of EPCOT every morning (Except for EMH I think). At this ceremony they pick a family to open the park. Now the tricky part is being the family selected. So far my family has been picked twice and here is how we did it. Get to the park real early. You will want to be one of the first guests at the turnstiles. When you go in head right for SSE there will be a rope just before is blocking your entrance to the park. Dead center of this rope you will see a few cast members. These are the ones that choose the family. Start engaging them in idle chit chat and chances are pretty good the will pick you. When the let you past the ropes they will take a picture of you (bring your camera) standing in front of the crowd waiting to get in. When they do that drop to one knee and purpose (and hope like he** she says yes) Good luck.

Rollercoaster

You could ask her right before you take off on Rockin Rollercoaster. like when the sign is counting down, ask her at 2, then she'll be shoked and the ride takes off. You get your answer at the end of the ride. That would be a little different.

I've heard that if you want to do it at Cinderella's castle at the Royal Table they can bring the ring in a glass slipper to the table. Has anyone else ever heard of this??

My fiance popped the question in January while we were in Disney on my birthday!!! We were in Magic kingdom and we were in front of the castle watching Wishes. When it was over we hung around and when the crowd had cleared alittle he asked if I wanted to take a picture infront of the castle. I said sure and he asked a gentleman if he could take our picture. What I didn't know at the time was he told the guy that he was going to ask me to marrying him and if he could try to get a picture of it. My fiance walked back to where I was standing and right there infront of the castle he got down on one knee and asked. I was totally surprised and happy. Thanks to that nice stranger I have a picture of the moment right infront of the castle!!
You can't go wrong popping the question in Disney. There are tons of great spots and oppertunities to do it. What my fiance did was so simple yet so perfect!!! We were in the most magical place, and it so happened that A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes was playing in the background. I have always thought that Magic Kingdom was the perfect spot, but if you are worried about a crowd try dinner at the California Grill in the Contemporary. If you can time your dinner right, they lower the lights when Wishes starts, you could always do it then!! I'm sure whatever you choose it will be perfect!!!

OK I consulted with my Passporter and it just happens to have a section devoted to special occassions, Check out www.giftsofalifetime.com Apparently they specialize in Disney engagements. They will even hire actors to help you pull something unique off. Just in case you can't get the website the # is 407-909-0593. Good luck and keep us posted :sohappy:

I think any proposal in front of the castle is so incredibly romantic, so I don't think you can go wrong doing it there. I got mine during Wishes in the hub and it was amazing. Waiting for the kiss goodnight on the castle is a great idea as well since there aren't too many people around at that point. Just make sure you ask to make sure that it is playing that night! Good luck

Yes, they do a lot at the castle during dinner. Set up the arrangements with your PS, recheck at check-in and with your server. It can be a really nice event. There are a number of sites that CM's will be happy to assist you. Also check with Guest Services prior to arriving at the park then confirm once you get there. If you two have a special character, an "audience" might be arranged.

Please check other threads here as this has been discussed a number of times, with some real good ideas.

Congratulations and good luck!
