Engagement Ideas

Hi everyone....I will be going asking my girlfriend to marry me on my next trip to Disney. Were at the Wilderness Lodge Aug. 3 - 7. So I have plenty of time something.I was wondering if anyone out there has done this sort of thing before and could let me know some do's and dont's. Like the most romantic place to ask her. Or some great dinner places to take her, Or maybe some great events like the Illumination cruise that would be very romantic. The more sappy the better, she really likes that sort of stuff.

Thanks in advance

I didn't propose in WDW, but the one thing about my fiance is that she wouldn't want it done in public. So, I'd like to suggest having your WDW resort guest room filled with flowers while you are out at the parks or out at dinner. When you return, let her walk in first, and then when she turns around in amazement, you're down on one knee. Any good hotel would do this, but imagine how impressive Disney would do it? You could have this done on the first or second day, so you'd be flying high for the rest of your trip. Imagine WDW magic + engagement magic all at once for a week long trip!!!

You could ask her right before you take off on Rockin Rollercoaster. like when the sign is counting down, ask her at 2, then she'll be shoked and the ride takes off. You get your answer at the end of the ride. That would be a little different.

Get your answer at the end? No way! You'd have her screaming 'YES' the whole ride like a shampoo commercial...

I really like the Rockin Roller Coaster idea. I was preggo last visit so I didn't get to ride it. How feasible would it be to hold up the ring at the right time for the photo? If it could be done then put it back in your pocket. When you get to the spot to view the photos, while she's looking at it, you could be getting down on one knee. When she turned around....... there you are!

If your looking for something a little more intimate, I think V&A's would be an excelent choice. I'm positive that if you called them, they could come up with something really romantic. We had an awsome table right next to the harp. Whatever you decide, good luck and I hope everything turns out great!

I found this thread and don't know if you're still looking for ideas but on my last trip I realized a cool way to do it. We went to MK to watch Wishes and noticed a couple watching but the guy was almost counting things going on in the show, he was watching intensely and it was kind of funny. The next night we were eating at the California Grille atop of the Contemporary Resort and saw the same couple. We went out on the balcony to watch Wishes and they went out as well, he was counting and watching again. Right before the last fireworks spectacular he jumped to his knee and asked her, she was shocked and paused for a minute but then said yes, just as he had planned it she reached over and hugged him right as the fireworks went off and everyone out there clapped and cheered! It was a great proposal.

A while back I thought of a really good way to propose, although it would take some participation from a CM. At the HM, give the ring to a CM, and have him place it on top of the ring outside (most people know what I am talking about). After you get off the ride, have the two of you look for the ring, only to find both. It is a little risky I know, but hey, I think it would be worth it in the long run.

I popped the question over at the Polynesian. We went to the Luau and after, we walked along the walkway near the beach looking across the lake to WDW all lit up. The crowd had moved on and it was just the two of us and a beautiful view of the Castle. Very quiet and secluded moment to ourselves. Made my move, she cried, she said yes and then went in to O'Hana and celebrated with Mai Tais. Would not have wanted it any other way. I had no preconceived plan for how and when to do it. Just waited until the moment felt right. So all I can recommend is to be careful wishing for the perfect plan and just be ready to take advantage of the moment. It's a one shot deal, we'll, not exactly in this day and age, but for the most part, it's a one shot deal so don't ruin it by giving yourself expectations that may not come true. With all the atmosphere and Magic there, you'll feel the moment and then just let it fly!!!! Good luck!! :sohappy:
